Paint Night: Acrylic Pop-Art at Banded Brewing Co.

Come join us at Banded Brewing Co. for a night of acrylic Pop-Art painting! All experience levels are welcome. Instructor Amanda will walk you through all the steps of creating your Pop-Art painting while you sip on your FREE beer sample. Please bring 2 printed reference images of a single subject or object that you find inspiring (Campbell’s Soup can, Marilyn Monroe, your pet, your loved one, favorite flower, etc.). We’ll bring out your inner Warhol. Class will take place at Banded Brewing Co., Building 13-W, 32 Main Street, Biddeford, ME (in the Pepperell Mills, just to the right of Portland Pie Co.). Limit one free 5oz. beer per participant; additional beer may be purchased. Explore a fun and easy beginner level project.  Students will have the opportunity to throw clay on the potter's wheel and learn to hand-build sculptural forms. Students will also decorate their pieces before they are fired! This class is good for those new to clay or looking to try something new.  Come by yourself or encourage a friend to register too. Appropriate for ages 13-18.  Materials fee of $12 (cash) payable to the instructor at class.

Learn the basics of working with clay using a pottery wheel. You will have the opportunity to make  hand-thrown vessels, walking away with finished, glazed pieces. We will discuss the process of building and firing pottery, as well as specific hand-building and decorative techniques to supplement and beautify your creations! All skill levels welcome. Materials fee of $20 (cash) payable to instructor at beginning of the first class.

Bring your own 8x10 frame that will complement your indoor/outdoor decor. Enjoy learning how to manipulate silver-plated wire around a lovely beach stone. Use your imagination and create a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry! Invite a friend to register too and prepare to share in the process. You will leave with your finished necklace on satin or suede cord-or make pendant to fit your favorite necklace chain (bring chain to class). If time allows, you may finish another pendant or learn to make basic wire charm earrings. Materials fee of $12 payable to instructor at class.

Learn the art of Woodturning! In this class, you will learn to use a wood lathe to create your one of a kind piece. Choose from the following projects: Pizza Cutter, Ice Cream Scoop, Bottle Stopper or a one of a kind Wooden Pen. If you wish to create something other than the previously listed items, please email inquiries to kfitzpatrick@sanford.org.  Wood and metal components (in mentioned projects) are provided by the instructor. Instructor will cover the basics of using a wood lathe in combination with the necessary tools and finishes. Materials fee of $40 payable to instructor at class.
