As a Certified Behavioral Health Professional (BHP), you will become an essential member of a child's treatment team, helping them grow and reach their full potential.

We are thrilled to offer an ONLINE training program that will equip you with the skills needed to support children receiving Behavioral Health Services.

This flexible training program includes:12 online modules12 hours of live virtual instructionOnline Bloodborne Pathogens trainingChild & Adult First Aid & CPR training (if you do not already have these certifications)The training is designed to be completed at your own pace, taking approximately 45 hours in total.

Upon completion, you will be prepared for employment with local social services providers.

Any individual who will be 18 years of age or older upon completion of the course may register. (Note: Individuals must be at least 18 and have a high school diploma or equivalent to become certified.)

Our community needs individuals who want to make a difference in a child's life.

Maine Children with intellectual challenges, autism, and mental health disorders, as well as their families, depend on Children's Behavioral Health Services, and there is a huge need in our area! A Certified Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) is an essential member of a child's treatment team and has the chance to have an instant influence while assisting children in reaching their full potential.

We are thrilled to provide this fantastic Blended training to our community. You will be equipped to work with children who need services while preparing yourself for employment with local social service agencies and/or school programs. Start whenever you choose, and go at your own pace. You have 6 months from your registration day to complete the course.

You will complete 12 online modules, then participate in two Live sessions: BHP Live Day (8-9 hours offered in-person or virtually) and Ethical Considerations (2.5 hours offered virtually). You will also receive a stipend to obtain Child & Adult First Aid/CPR certification and free online training in blood-borne pathogens. Our free remote training program can get you certified and started in a career that will change your life in just 40 hours.

Required: Must be a Maine resident and at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent to become certified. The state also requires that you take an inperson cpr/first aid class.. The cost of up to $100 will be reimbursed once you have completed the American Red Cross or American Heart Saver Course. Woodfords CPR/FA classes in Westbrook, Manchester and Brewer are free for all workforce learners.

Jeffrey Carpenter, Workforce Recruitment Specialist for the State of Maine's Office of Child and Family Services through Woodfords Family Services, is here to help you through this learning opportunity by providing answers to questions and assistance with technical issues, should any arise. He is also a resource to connect you with service agencies once you have completed the training.

This online training will equip you to successfully help children who are currently on a wait list for services and become an integral part of a child’s treatment team. The training will prepare you for employment through local social services agencies. You can start at any time and finish at your own pace. You will complete 12 online modules then (3) 4-hour live sessions, including the new ethics and boundaries training. Once the modules are completed, you will receive free online blood borne pathogen training and virtual First Aid & CPR training if you do not already possess those certifications. The entire training requirements will take about 45 hours. Any individual who will be 18 years of age or older upon completion of the course may register.

140 Classroom Hours w/ a Clinical Externship

For students who want to prepare for an exciting, challenging and rewarding career in healthcare. This program trains students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office. Instruction includes preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, technical aspects of phlebotomy and the cardiac life cycle. Includes hands-on labs and a clinical externship opportunity at a local healthcare provider. To be eligible for clinical rotation, students must successfully complete the 140-hour program, submit to a thorough background check, drug screening and meet other requirements. Note: Upon successful completion of this program, students are eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national examination.

*By "signing up" for this class you will be put on our interest list. Currently there is no CCMA course scheduled at Lake Region and Fryeburg Area Adult Ed.   Gray-New Gloucester Adult & Community Education may already have a class scheduled and we encourage you to reach out to them.

In partnership with Franklin Memorial Hospital, and AHEC, Spruce Mountain Adult & Community Education is facilitating an all-inclusive sixteen-week certification course.  This class will set you on the path for local employment and the beginning of a successful medical career. 

Medical Assistants are responsible for a variety of medical office tasks from administrative, technical and scientific duties.  Must have quality human relations skills, too.  Some of the job duties include cleaning and dressing wounds, taking blood samples, administering medications, taking vitals, preparing a patient for EKGs, obtaining a patient's history, and assisting physicians during examinations. 

Our program provides virtual reality style classroom work as well as traditional style teaching for a blended learning experience.  Practicum will be performed during the program to ensure that the student has proper techniques and will be ready to pass the National Certification.  Upon completion of the program, you will sit for your CCMA (Clinical Certified Medical Assistant) national certification exams through NHA. 

The cost includes national certification, 6 practice exams, online study guide materials, books, resume assistance, and all other associated fees.  Initial job shadow and externships available through Franklin Memorial Hospital.  

Payment plans, scholarships and payment through our local career center may be available for you!

This is a Maine State Approved Certified Nursing Assistant training course. The new amount of hours has been reduced from 180 hours down to 130 hours. Preparing students to become C.N.A. certified requires 70 classroom hours, 20 lab hours, and 40 clinical hours. Routine tasks required for personal nursing care will be taught.

Applicants must apply, and be screened for acceptance in accordance with local and Maine State regulations, confirm academic skills through the CASAS Test, and pass a criminal background check.

CASAS Testing: Call Anne at 282-3883 to schedule testing. Bring COMPLETED application and all required paperwork to appointment.

Students enrolled in this certificate program complete 150 hours of classroom, laboratory, and clinical experience, meeting all state licensing requirements. Upon successful completion of the course and passage of the State Competency Exam, students will be eligible to enter the healthcare field under the direction of a licensed nurse. Students must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or the equivalent, and have a CASAS Reading score of 238 or above.
