Medical transcription is a desired field for most people trying to work at home. Strong typing, computer, and English grammar skills are essential. Medical terminology, formats, rules and regulations, jobs, calculation of pay, confidentiality, and tricks of the trade, all equipment, reference books, and course books are provided with the course fee. Classes are online for 16-weeks with a completion of 16-weeks to 6-month options. This is a State Certified Program., and you will receive a Certificate of Completion and Letter of Recommendation upon graduation, resumes and how to obtain a job are covered in this program. Program includes medical terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, and transcription. Pricing includes everything for the course and the field. Required: typing skills above 60 WPM, Microsoft Word proficient.

Alice Haiss Scholarship Fund

Alice Haiss of Skowhegan worked as an adult education teacher for many years as part of the Somerset County Basic Skills Program.  She was a literacy, basic skills, GED Preparation and English as a Second Language teacher at the program's Learning Center.  She also taught GED Preparation, basic and life skills at the Somerset County Jail for years.  During that period, she took part in a federal grant project called the Esteem Machine that combined the teaching of life skills with academic skills.

Haiss also worked for Educational Skills, Inc., where she facilitated Project Resiliency, and intervention program to prevent female juvenile offenders from being incarcerated at a youth correctional center.  The program focused on the development of problem solving, communication, team-building, and self-esteem building.

This scholarship will benefit any adult education learner who are pursuing education or training in high demand, high skill, or high wage occupations.

Awards will be announced yearly at the Adult Education Graduation in June.

As an integral part of the child’s treatment team, a Certified Behavioral Health Professional (BHP has the opportunity to make an immediate impact while helping a child grow and develop to their full potential. We are excited to connect our community with this wonderful ONLINE training and certificate program. Th s training will prepare you for employment through local social service agencies and equip you to work with children who qualify for services. This program can be started at any time and finished at your own pace. You will complete 12 online modules, then three 4-hour live (in-person sessions. Once the modules are completed, you will receive free online blood borne pathogen training and Child and Adult First Aid & CPR Certification. In just 40 hours, our free remote training program can get you certified and on your way to a life changing profession. Must be a Maine resident, and at least 18 years old with a high school diploma (or equivalent to become certified. Children’s Behavioral Health Services are vital to Maine’s children with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism and Mental Health Disorders and their families. The need in our area is great!

We are excited to connect our adult education community with this wonderful ONLINE training program. This online training is Free. The training will prepare you for employment through local social services agencies and the school districts.  

The program can be started at any time and finished at your own pace. You will complete 12 online modules then 3, 4-hour live sessions, including the new ethics and boundaries training. 

Once the modules are completed, participants that do not already possess CPR certification will be required to complete either in-person or blended Child & Adult CPR/FA training. You can take CPR through Adult Education or Woodfords Services. 

The entire training requirements will take about 45 hours. Any individual who will be 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or equivalency upon completion of the course may register.

As an integral part of the child’s treatment team, a Certified Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) has the opportunity to make an immediate impact while helping a child grow and develop to their full potential.

We are excited to connect our communities with Woodfords Family Services for this wonderful ONLINE training program. The online training will equip you to successfully help children who are currently on a waitlist for services. The training will prepare you for employment through local social services agencies. The program can be started at any time and finished at your own pace.

  • You will complete 12 online modules then two 4-hour live sessions. 
  • Once the modules are completed, you will receive free online bloodborne pathogen training and virtual First Aid & CPR training if you do not already possess those certifications. 
  • The entire training requirements will take about 45 hours.
  • Assistance with job placement is provided to anyone who completes the program.
  • Assistance with technology may be available.

 Prerequisites:

  • A high school diploma or equivalency. Proof of education is required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older upon completion of the course.
  • An administration fee of $25 is required at registration.
  • A reading comprehension assessment is required prior to completing the application, administered through your local Maine Adult Education program. This requirement may be waived by showing successful completion of a college-level English course.
