This is an online course. This class can be taken anytime, anywhere during the class dates specified. This class can be taken up to one week past the class start date.
Explore the field of cybersecurity, including its history, importance, and core principles. Understand the various types of cyber threats and the fundamental concepts of information security. Come away with a familiarity of the basic types of cyber threats.

Intro to Google Docs and Drives

Two of the great benefits to your Google account are Google Drive and Google Docs. Google Drive is free cloud storage and Google Docs is Google’s free alternative to MS Word. In this class you willlearn how to store and manage your files online as well as use the Google Docs platform where youcan create stunning documents.

"Cutting the Cord" - Getting TV & Phone Services Over the Internet
with Nina Fearon, Bangor Adult & Community Education

What does it mean to "Cut the Cord"? It's about canceling cable or satellite services and being able to watch television shows online, as well as options that would allow you to get rid of your landline. This class will not only show you the wide variety of options out there, but also teach you some tools to decide if cutting the cord is right for you.

Microsoft Excel Power Tools Power Query allows you to import and shape data. It has an easy to use interface, powerful tools to import and clean data. Power Pivot allows data modeling and calculations. It easily handles millions of rows of data and has modeling tools for efficient data storage and analysis. Power BI (Business Intelligence) is a complete business intelligence tool. It features incredible visual options, has simple built-in interactive options, fantastic graphs and allows easy sharing of data. The design of this course includes 2-3 hours of work with the software between sessions to gain maximum benefit from the sessions. This is an online class using ZOOM. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey included in your automated receipt so the instructor can tailor the course to meet your needs. You will want to have Microsoft Excel on your computer for this workshop and many people find it helpful to have two monitors though it is certainly not necessary to benefit from the sessions. There are two ways to accomplish this: 1) attach an external screen to your computer (contact our program if you need technical assistance with that); 2) using two computers (one for Excel and the other for the ZOOM meeting.

Val is a lifelong business educator and academic advisor focused on helping enrich and enhance students' educational and life purposes. He is experienced in college management and, as an adult educator, having taught at the Mid-State College and Kennebec Valley Community College. His teaching experience covers over 45 years in the areas of computer applications, accounting, and Quickbooks training workshops.
