Piano for Hopelessly Busy People

In just a few hours, you can learn enough secrets of the trade to give you years of musical enjoyment. Learn to play piano the way professionals do-using chords. Since this class is being held online with ZOOM you will be able to sit at your piano or keyboard at home and take this course with no pressure at all. And since this course includes an online book and online follow up video lessons, you will be able to continue your practice and study on your own. An optional periodic online question and answer session is also included. A recording of the class is included as well. The course is partly lecture/demonstration and partly hands on instruction.
Topics include: How chords work in a song; how to get more out of sheet music by reading less of it; how to form the three main types of chords; how to handle different keys and time signatures; how to avoid "counting".
Google Drive: Get It Organized! Section 2

Google Drive is an example of a cloud-based place where you can create and save files of all kinds - word documents, spreadsheets, surveys and more. You can access the files from most devices and more than one person can work on them at the same time. If you’re using it for personal use, Drive applications are free. It’s a practical way to learn programs without investing in software. This workshop will introduce you to these features. This is an in-person workshop. No class 04/16/24; makeup class, if needed, 04/30/24.
You’ll need a Gmail account for this workshop, and will need to know your account username and password. It’s ideal if you access your Gmail on the web vs. a computer-based program. If you’re not sure what this means, please contact us and we’ll be glad to assist you!
Vanessa loves working with adult learners. She is really easy to be around and makes people extremely comfortable; she even makes learning math and computers fun! She is committed to helping adults discover their strenghts, build their confidence, and realize they can accomplish their goals. In her free time, she loves to travel and explore the outdoors. Personal Support Specialist (PSS)

50 hour course will train you to provide daily living care to older adults and individuals with disabilities. You could be the difference between someone getting to stay in their home or going to a nursing home. Other options for employment include local care facilities. REQUIREMENTS: 17 years and older, pass state background check, updated vaccinations including COVID 19. No high school diploma required.
National Service Through AmeriCorps: Informational Session

This informative workshop will provide attendees with all the information they need to enter National Service through the AmeriCorps program.
AmeriCorps is the program whereby citizens can Make A Difference in their community by enrolling tolend their energy and ability to advance a well thought out project and program. AmeriCorps membersreceive a stipend, fully paid health benefit (full time) and an education award that can be applied to anypost-secondary school tuition/fees. Member terms are full or part time and there are manyopportunities available, including the Augusta area.

The workshop will be led by Roy Gedat who recently retired from a career leading non-profitorganizations, elected political service, and state/federal advocacy and is proud to call Maine his homefor over 40 years.
His experience and interests led him to many years of volunteer service to the Norway Historical Society,Maine’s Long Term Care Ombudsman and many other endeavors. Most recently he has been serving as aTrustee of the Maine Long Term Care Ombudsmen Program and begun a second term in AmeriCorps.

This crash course will teach you some basic chords and get you playing along with your favorite songs right away. Since this class is being held online with ZOOM, you will be able to sit at home with your guitar and take this class without any pressure at all. And since the class includes an online book and online follow-up video lessons, you will be able to continue your practice and study on your own. An optional periodic online question and answer session is also included. A recording of the class is included as well. Class limited to 15 students. For ages 13+.

Photography: Special Effects with Your Digital Camera

Experiment with the special features and effects on your camera that allow you to capture images as diverse as sunsets, landscapes, panoramic photos as well as moving targets and photos from a distance or very close. You’ll learn and experiment together.
This is a live online class using ZOOM.
Steve McGrath is a professional freelance photographer and photography teacher who has been creating images for 20 years. Steve first began by shooting sports photography for local high schools, then weddings, and stock agencies. His love of the outdoors led him to focusing more on his true passion. Steve was an active member of the Gateway Camera Club for many years, and has won many ribbons and awards at fairs and competitions through the club and on his own. Many of his images have been published in school text books.
