Creative Writing - Beginner Class

What sparks your creative juices? Your favorite pen and paper or sitting in front of a keyboard? Join us for this beginner creative writing class and let your imagination run.
Good creative writing conveys one's thoughts, ideas, and insights in an organized, well-developed, and engaging manner. Great creative writing is insightful, expressive, and inspired. Whether you want to write well, are striving for greatness, or just want to write for the fun of it, this class can help you increase your self-awareness, develop your powers of observation, increase your level of concentration, and build fluency and confidence.
This class is designed for beginners and/or those who have not taken this class previously.
Please note: We will be offering an intermediate / advanced class this winter, starting in Feb. 2024.

Have you ever thought of being a hospice volunteer? Hospice volunteers visit with patients who have a life expectancy of 6 months or less. Hospice volunteers offer companionship, support and friendship; and help patients make the most of every day.
This one night course will teach participants what to expect as a hospice volunteer. Potential volunteers will be able to start the application process via their smartphone, laptop or tablet at the training. After that, all of the training and onboarding is online.

Make and Take Fabric Pumpkin

Love setting a Fall table with pumpkins? Looking for a quick DIY project or gift? Come make a hand-sewn pumpkin to keep or gift this Fall season! Make it simple or add leaves, ribbons, or berries. Skill level- Beginner/Intermediate. Materials needed: 1 Fat Quarter or 1/3 yards cotton fabric, thread & needle, ribbon or other embellishment as desired. A Materials fee of $5, due evening of class (polyfiber fill).
National Service through AmeriCorps

This informative workshop will provide attendees with all the information they need to enter National Service through the AmeriCorps program; offering both in-person as a small group or by appointment 1:1.
AmeriCorps is the program whereby citizens can Make A Difference in their community by enrolling to lend their energy and ability to advance a well thought out project and program. AmeriCorps members receive a stipend, fully paid health insurance (full time) and an education award that can be applied to any post-secondary school tuition/fees. Member terms are full or part time and there are many opportunities available.
The education award can be used to pay down your student loans or transfer (over 55) for the college expenses of a grandchild, child, or foster child.
There is no charge to attend a workshop and participants are under no obligation to join.
The workshop will be led by Roy Gedat who recently retired from a career leading non-profit organizations, elected political service, and state/federal advocacy and is proud to call Maine his home for over 40 years.
His experience and interests led him to many years of volunteer service to the Norway Historical Society, Maine’s Long Term Care Ombudsman and many other endeavors. Most recently he has been serving as a Trustee of the Rufus Porter Museum of Art and Ingenuity in Bridgton and enlisted in AmeriCorps.
Stained Glass Beginner's Workshop

Glass with Class has teamed up with Adult Education to offer beginner classes.
If you are wanting to learn stained glass from start to finish then this is the class for you! You will be learning the art of Tiffany-stained glass and making your own bird suncatcher. You will learn the process from cutting the glass, to grinding, soldering, and finishing your pieces. You must be registered at least one week before the class starts. Lisa will have one pattern that you will all be working on.
We will be using lead and chemicals during this process as well as sharp glass. Safety equipment will be provided, and you will be asked to wear them during your class as well as signing a waiver.
**This is a 2 day class and you must be able to attend both dates.**
Please do not wear nice clothes as you will be getting dirty during the class.
Space is limited to 8. This will be at the new location in Caribou, 53 Herschel St.
Beginner Slow Vinyasa Yoga

IMPORTANT NOTE: Session 1 (only) starting on September 13th will be held at the Adult Ed Center in Topsham from 1 to 2pm.
Curious about yoga, but don't know where to begin? Heard the word Vinyasa, but don't know what it is? This class is for you! Join Heather in this class designed for those new to Yoga, and/or those looking for a Slow Gentle Flow Practice. We will take our time mindfully moving from one yoga posture to another( this is the Vinyasa style) to allow ample time to breathe in each pose. More time and a slower pace allows us to deepen the poses and remain present in each movement. This is a calm and peaceful practice that will creatively address both the Physical and Subtle(mental and emotional) Bodies.
