Prosperity & Good Fortune: Chinese Wonton Dumplings - NEW!

We will make Chinese dumplings with pork filling made from scratch in class. You will learn the multiple styles of folding dumplings using wonton wrappers. Then we will boil the wonton to make a classic wonton soup or chili oil wonton. Additionally, we’ll learn to make our own Sichuan-style chili oil and learn about other common Chinese condiments used for dipping sauces. All ingredients, materials, equipment, and recipes will be provided. (Plant-based ground meat can be substituted for the pork upon request. The dumpling wrappers include gluten.)

This course is a good refresher for those who haven't sewn for years or for those new at sewing but with some basic experience. We will start out with a zippered pouch, a simple tote, and finish with a project of your choice from a pattern. Sandy will provide materials to complete the zippered pouch so there is no need to bring fabric to the first class. You may bring your sewing machine and favorite sewing notions, if you wish. There are machines in the sewing room that may be used as well. A $10 materials fee is included.

A four-week enrichment class designed to chat about the ins and outs of sports card collecting with fellow enthusiasts. Compare, discuss and trade! The course will be run by Alec Newell, a lifetime collector of all things baseball. This course will be ideal for the veteran collector or someone brand new to the hobby!

Too often, people leave energy to so-called experts. This session will also be an opportunity for you to share your critical knowledge — about what it is like to be a utility customer.

In this class, learn about which plants are most beneficial to both native and migratory pollinators and methods of gardening where you attract, welcome, encourage and provide long term habitat for the diversity of flora and fauna in your yard. We will delve into rewilding on a grand and small scale. Every little bit helps pollinators! Open to all skill levels.

Beginner Gardening - Starting from Seed

Mid to late May is typically an ideal time to start planting your garden in the Midcoast of Maine. We will talk about what plants can be sown directly into the ground at this time of year vs what plants should be started indoors. This class will focus on vegetable, herb and companion flower seedlings for your garden. Come prepared to get a little dirty during this is a hands-on class and walk away with seedlings to jumpstart your gardening! The cost of the class includes all materials. However, a variety of additional seedling kits will be available to purchase at class for $10 per kit. 

Mei-Ling Cheung has a background in horticulture, urban forestry and permaculture. In her newest endeavor, she is providing a variety of classes to help people learn how to live a more sustainable lifestyle. Her classes focus on practical, hands-on  skills and her style of teaching is fun and casual, yet structured and informative. 

Block Printing 5.7.25

Block printing is a unique and versatile medium used for centuries as a means of pattern making and textile design. In this class you will create an original block print of your own! You will learn how to transfer your vision onto a carving medium, carve the block, and then use it to print a repetitive & decorative design. Sharp carving tools will be provided. Bring ideas of what you might like to carve, a little patience and a lot of creativity! We will be working on carving blocks that are 4 x 6". All materials are included in the registration fee.
