Having Tough Converations about End of Life

In this presentation join Hospice of Southern Maine's Chaplain staff for a presentation on how to have meaningful, effective family conversations about end of life. We offer advice and strategies for these often complicated and emotion-filled conversations to make it easier for everyone involved.

Basic Life Support - May 7, 2025
with Denise White, MSN/RN, RSU 54/MSAD 54 Adult and Community Education

In this one-night training, learn the essentials of recognizing respiratory and cardiac arrest and effectively beginning emergency treatment. Participants will learn CPR and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
Students will need to pick up and review the BLS Provider Manual prior to class so that they are prepared for an open-book test at the end of the training.
*Upon successful completion, participants will receive an AHA CPR certification & card.

Restorative Yoga
with Barbara McGranahan, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education

Restorative yoga is a practice of conscious relaxation using props in every posture to support your muscles in gentle, comfortable positions. There are NO Downward Facing Dog and Cobra that are keystones of other popular yoga styles. Poses include gentle supine twists, supported forward folds, and hip openers. The poses are held from 3 to 30 minutes giving your body plenty of time to relax so that your mind can enter a quiet meditative state. Blocks and bolsters provided. Please bring your own mat, blankets, and other favorite supports.
Trail-Wise (Hiking 101 and 102)
with Brad Rounds, Windham/Raymond Adult Education

Start from ground zero or learn more about hiking as well as a bit about off-track XC skiing and snowshoeing. Gain more comfort in the Maine woods. Maine has literally thousands of miles of publicly-accessible trails. Info on all four seasons. Topics include methods of hiking, reducing risk, tools of the trade, clothing, trail marking, trail guides, weather, getting lost, stream crossings and more.

Estate Planning

This class will be a basic overview of estate planning, including a discussion of essential documents and strategies. After attending this two-night course, students will be able to make informed decisions to be prepared for the orderly transfer of assets. We need 10 people registered in order to run the class.
