Over a period of three weeks you will hear how I, a former science teacher and intuitive healer, learned how to tap into my creative self and found the confidence to write my recently published memoir, “When My Mother was a Mountain.” Join me as I show you how to quiet your logical mind and slip into your creative center so you can access the artistic parts of you. Each of us has unique, creative abilities as well as varying degrees of confidence and experience. As a teacher for over forty years I have learned how to create a supportive and stimulating class environment. This “hands-on” class is for all ability levels and it will be loaded with surprises. Our focus will be on the basics of the “story” and not grammar/style. Come with a large notebook and pen and be ready to explore areas of your creativity you never imagined. This week-long day camp will use your child’s imagination, focus and energy to create a one act play from the ground up! We will practice theater exercises and develop characters, then we will weave together an improvised story that will be rehearsed and performed on the final day. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to practice developing their creativity while working together cooperatively with others. Elise Voigt is an actor and theater educator with over 20 years of experience and loves sharing her skills and knowledge with adults and children as a journey of self-discovery and self-renewal. In this class you will learn where your chakras are and how the correspond with your body . We will learn what influences these energies and how to clear them. At the end of class there will be a mediation that will leave you balanced, grounded, and centered. After the meditation you should feel full of love and as though you have had a massage for your soul. Led by Jeannie Sullivan from HeartFelt Energies.

We will explore the decorative sewing patterns of the Japanese Stab Binding, while learning a bit about the eastern traditions of book binding. Hammers and awls are used to create this book. Tools & materials provided. A materials fee of $10 payable to the instructor is due on the first night (fee is per registrant). *This is a Family-Friendly program open only to adults with minors. Children must have at least one adult registered with them.

This class is designed for bokeh enthusiasts, featuring soft, distant lights that invoke a dreamy ambiance. Whether on a sunny beach or a night highway, we will explore techniques to replicate this stunning effect using lots of blending and blurring. This class is perfect for beginners as well as advanced painters. Canvas and paints are supplied.

Have clothes that need mending? Come learn sashiko, the Japanese art of visible mending where we will patch our garments with a purposefully visible stitch to strengthen and beautify them all at once. Students will each receive needles, thread, a patch, and a take-home guide. Please bring a ruler, scissors, sewing pins, and your garment of choice (denim preferred). A $25 materials fee, payable to the instructor, must be paid the first night of class.

Join Catherine for this 1 night class to learn new ways to incorporate mixed media techniques in your work. Create depth, texture and interest with gouache, fluid acrylic, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, dual tipped markers and posca pens (and more). Class will start with a refresher on color and techniques covered in previous levels and then transition to discuss new ways to think about layers while introducing various mixed media supplies. We will spend the rest of class playing with a variety of materials to incorporate new and old techniques to complete a fun and uplifting illustration. Materials fee: $20 (payable to the instructor).
