with Lana Fortier, Gorham Adult Education

Calendar Oct 6, 2020 at 6 pm, runs for 4 weeks

Please note: This class is now a virtual class. As the class gets closer a class link will be sent to you.

Pranayama, or yogic breathing, is a fantastic way to recharge the mind, release stress, and increase energy & mental clarity. Yoga Nidra, or sleep with a trace of awareness, is the state of consciousness between waking and sleeping. It will come to you through a guided meditation and a practice of conscious relaxation. We’ll begin with a short Pranayama practice - you’ll learn alternate nostril breathing as well as some warming and cooling breaths. Each practice has specific physical and emotional benefits, which we'll talk briefly about. Students are asked to bring a yoga mat and blanket to class. Lana Fortier, RYT200, is a Kundalini Yoga Teacher certified by The Tenth Gate School of Yoga and Energy Healing in Portsmouth, RI and registered with Yoga Alliance. She is also a Reiki Master, a Pranayama/Meditation teacher, and a Yoga Nidra guide.

Benefits of Yoga Nidra are:                                                                   • 1 hour is equal to 4 hours of sleep                                                       • deeply restorative                                                                             • stress reduction                                                                                 • nervous system relaxation                                                                   • awakens connection between body and mind                                       • promotes balance and healing
