Intermediate Golf Section 1

Calendar May 8, 2025 at 5 pm, runs for 4 weeks

Designed for players who have prior experience playing a round of golf and even up to three or four rounds per year. Review important aspects of putting, chipping, and full swing with irons and fairway metals. The instructor(s) will demonstrate variables that lead to different types of golf shots (i.e., low, high, curving right, curving left) and will also monitor applied practice and instruct accordingly throughout the session and develop simplistic drills and practice routines that players will be able to utilize after the course ends.

Required: Golf clubs (putter, sand wedge, 7 iron, and Driver), sneakers/golf shoes, and collared shirts. NO jeans, gym shorts, or T-shirts.

Ryan Mondor has 20+ years of experience in the golf industry, with time spent in Southern ME and Northern California. He is the Director of Player Development at Biddeford-Saco CC, where he works with golfers of all ages and skill levels.

Brogan Kane played four years of HS Varsity golf and five years at USM, serving as a captain for two. He joined the staff at Biddeford-Saco CC as an assistant golf professional and is enrolled in the PGA of America's Associate Program.

Learn How To Play Disc Golf!

Come check out Hammond Farm Disc Golf Course, here in North Berwick at 410 Fox Farm Hill Rd. You will get a lesson and some practice time before you head out on the course to play a round. If you are a beginner, Pro player Scott Walsh will introduce you to the game and if you have some experience playing, then Scott will help you improve your disc golf skills.

We will provide the discs if you need them, so all you need to bring is your sense of adventure and willingness to have fun!

Groups are welcome. Come and give it a try!

Learn to Ride a Bike*

If you never learned to ride a bike as a kid, you’re not alone and you’re not too late! We will guide you through simple steps to help get you rolling and build your confidence on two wheels. This class is open to teenagers and adults who haven’t learned to ride a bike before. Bring a 2-wheel bike to learn on—one where the seat can be set low enough to sit with both heels flat (no “tip-toes”) on the ground and knees slightly bent. We will focus on balancing, pedaling, and bicycle control. A parent or guardian must accompany students 13-16 years. Rain date will be Saturday, May 17. When registering please mark this date on your calendar just in case it rains on May 10. Donations are welcome to the Bicycle Coalition of Maine by cash or check at class or via their website at www.bikemaine.org/donate. Limit 5 students.

Fly Fishing 101

Learn the basics of fly casting in this hands-on workshop. We will cover rods, reels, lines, and what you will need to get started. In addition to the casting lesson, we will cover the basic knots used, fly selections and how to fish with them. We will also learn to read the stream or river you are fishing to find the most likely places to catch fish. The lesson will continue with a stream-side lesson on the St. George River on Saturday, June 7, 9:00-10:30 AM. This lesson will be optional to participants and weather dependent.

Hampden-Strong Bones Exercise Class--Session 2

Led by Kate Peppard, this class focuses on improving bone density and muscle strength using small hand and ankle weights in both seated and standing positions. The exercises are slow and controlled, for optimal benefit and safety. Strong Bones is open to all ages and abilities, and is perfect for anyone with osteopenia, osteoporosis, arthritis, weakness and/or balance issues.
