Computers for ESOL

Becoming comfortable with technology is necessary in our personal and professional lives. This class is for students with beginner-level understanding of computers and other tools of technology. The goal is for students to improve their computer literacy skills and become comfortable with technology. Call the ABE Coordinator to register for this and other ESOL classes. This class is offered virtually and in-person as needed. Students meet with the instructor for two one-hour sessions per week at various times. Rolling admissions.

Structured Query Language (SQL) is the industry standard database programming language. It is one of the most in demand skills in occupations that require interaction with data and analyzing data. Through your knowledge of Structured Query Language, you will become more marketable in computer related career fields that pertain to database administration. Learning SQL can also lead to a job that is specific to analyzing data such as a data analyst, a quality assurance analyst, or a business analyst.
You’ll first learn about relational database structures, the history and uses of Structured Query Language, and how to use Structured Query Language to create a database, add records to database tables, and how to use SQL queries to extract meaningful data from database tables. You will quickly progress from creating simple SQL queries that query a single table to querying multiple tables simultaneously. You’ll also learn how to alter data in a database and how to gather significant statistics from data stored in a database. Finally, you'll learn techniques that will enable you to write powerful queries that perform complicated searches and sorts on your data. This certificate will enhance your competitiveness in the field of database administration and data analyst jobs.

This summer course that runs T/W/Th/F for 1 week will give you a basic understanding of your automobile as well as a possible launching pad to affiliated careers or further study at a community college level. We will cover the basic theory and diagnostics of the following topics, aligned to ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) standards: Foundation and Safety, Basic Engine and Auto Transmission Fundamentals/Service, Steering System and Suspension, and Brakes. By completion of class, the student will have a solid understanding of lubrication, fluids, tires, vehicle maintenance, and how systems work. Safety modules will be assigned to study via a website at home prior to the class starting. This is not a bring-in-your-own-vehicle repair class; applied learning will occur in the shop on a demo vehicle. Student must provide their own safety glasses and reinforced toe footwear.

You will stack certifications in Basic Computer Skills, Internet Basics, Windows 10, Microsoft Word Office 2010, MAC OS, Social Media, Using Email, Microsoft EXCEL Office 2016, Microsoft Power Point Office 2016, and Google Docs.
This course is free to elegible adult education students. A fee of $70 will be charged to people that are not adult education students. Call to see if you qualify and to sign up.
