Computer Essentials - Basics - Sept.

Efficient use of technology in a home or work setting requires basic knowledge in several areas: the PC operating system, software applications (Microsoft Office), file management, and storage options for photos and documents. In this class, you will learn about the Windows operating system and its tools, and how to manage software, files, and folders. We will explore basic word processing using MS Word 2016 and learn about spreadsheets with Excel 2016.

This class will discuss computer basics and is for those who have little-to-no computer background. Using hands-on time at the computers, we will cover computer basics and spend time going over your questions. This class is suitable for a very beginner or someone who took a beginner class but still has questions. This class will be using PC’s, but the skills apply to Mac’s as well.

Your business is unique, so are your training needs. Our staff consultant works with you to assess your needs and to customize computer-based or business training for you and/or your staff. Workshops are offered at the McLain School computer lab classroom in all topics covered in our array of computer, business and workforce courses. From Business Ethics and Customer Service to Cloud Computing and managing company Excel spreadsheets, we will work to design and deliver training for your own unique business needs. One-On-One Training & Consulting, $45/hour plus planning time Small Group Training (up to 8 participants), $50/hour plus planning time. Refunds: Course cost will be refunded, less a $5 processing fee, if you withdraw one week prior to the first class. If you withdraw prior to the second class, you will be refunded 50%.

Designed for inexperienced students, this introductory class provides participants with the basics of computers, including email and Internet usage. Course also covers Facebook and Skype, and provides plenty of time for students to practice. No computer experience necessary. By the end, students will be able to upload photos to Facebook or create an album.
