Introduction to the Elements of Real Estate Brokerage

Topics covered include industry overview/organization, Maine Real Estate Commission, agency relationships, product knowledge, property valuation, the appraisal process, financing the transaction, contracts, closings and federal and state laws. Fee includes textbook PDF (hard copy available from Center for Real Estate for an additional fee), one year of access to the course, instructor feedback after the three quizzes and the final exam and twice monthly Q&A drop-in sessions via Zoom. A certificate of completion is awarded with a grade of 75% or above, required for the state licensing exam ($85 fee), which must be taken within one year of satisfactory course completion. When you affiliate with a real estate agency and apply for your license, there is a $100 fee, along with a $21 criminal records check fee. Some companies offer to pay this fee when you affiliate with them.

Required: Attendees must be 18 or older and have a high school diploma or equivalency to get a license but a diploma is not required.

Bob Joslyn has been a licensed real estate broker in Maine since 1988, and for the past eight years he has been a solo agent at Keller Williams Realty in Greater Portland. He has had the honor of giving numerous buyers and sellers the knowledge they need to make wise real estate decisions during that time! Children’s Behavioral Health Services is vital to Maine’s children with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, and Mental Health Disorders and their families. The need in our area is great!

We are excited to connect our adult education community with this wonderful ONLINE training program. This online training is Free. The training will prepare you for employment through local social services agencies and the school districts.  

The program can be started at any time and finished at your own pace. You will complete 12 online modules then 3, 4-hour live sessions, including the new ethics and boundaries training. 

Once the modules are completed, participants that do not already possess CPR certification will be required to complete either in-person or blended Child & Adult CPR/FA training. You can take CPR through Adult Education or Woodfords Services. 

The entire training requirements will take about 45 hours. Any individual who will be 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or equivalency upon completion of the course may register.
