This course is designed to build a tool kit for success. You will learn skills to become a confident learner and improve computer skills. If you're planning on continuing your education, you'll research options and complete financial aid forms. If you're seeking work, you'll do a job search, write a resume, fill out job applications, and prepare for interviews. Several technology workshops may be facilitated on the topics of Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Drive and Applications, managing files and folders, cloud storage, web-based learning, and more. In this class, especially designed for adults with learning challenges, students will enhance everyday life skills by improving their basic reading, writing, and problem-solving proficiencies. Learners set their own individualized goals and work toward them in a safe, nurturing, and creative environment. Contact the Adult Education office for additional information.
Substitute Teacher Training

Whether you are just thinking about subbing or are a seasoned veteran looking to add some fresh ideas and “tools” to your repertoire, you’ll thoroughly enjoy this professional development opportunity. You will get to tour several schools within the RSU 14 District and will meet various RSU 14 staff members. Learn about the required substitute paperwork and protocol, strategies to keep students on task, tips to make lessons more appealing to reluctant learners along with tried and true behavior modifiers from our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Program. Participants completing the training will receive a differential upon subbing for RSU 14.

This is where your future begins! Whether you are looking to complete your high school education (diploma or HiSET) or want to brush off skills for college, this is the first step. During this scheduled one-on-one meeting, we will walk you through all the registration paperwork, set your personalized schedule and give a clear picture of how our program works and what you can expect. You will also complete our CASAS intake testing to give us an idea of where you are academically and give us a starting point to set you on your path to a new future. Please plan on the process taking at least 2 hours. You may bring a parent, spouse or friend with you.
New student registrations are scheduled on Wednesdays at 6:00pm or Fridays at 9:00am. If these times are not an option for you, please call our office to discuss further options.
Please bring your Social Security Number and any past transcripts you may have.
You will receive a phone call from our office to confirm your registration and to answer any questions you may have. We look forward to working with you!

ITV College Classes
Take college classes via Interactive TV during the day or evening at Mattanawcook Academy. If the college class you want to take is offered as an online class through UMA and/or EMCC you may be able to sit in on the class at MA instead of driving out of town to take the class. Testing for these classes can also be done at MA but you must first sign up through the college to do so.
Open Computer Learning Lab

Do you struggle with technology? Google has many great tools you can use for free! If you want to use Google for personal use, or you use it at work, we will explore the amazing tools provided. Learn to present information, share with colleagues, collaboratively edit, and use other time-saving tools. (If you do not have a current google account, we will create one in the first class.) Bring a laptop or we will have computers available. The beauty of Google is that you can access it anywhere you can go online. Thanks to a generous donation by OTelCo we are able to offer this on-going open lab time at no cost.
Life Design for Me - NEW!
with Ellen Miller, Maranacook Adult Education
The goal of this class is to bring people together to explore their future potential. This class will introduce students to design based career and life planning. Structured activities will aid in identification of personal strengths and values, mapping of life aspirations and creation of a five year life plan. Registration fee includes $20 fee for on-line strengths assessment.
