Whatever your need, Sanford Community Adult Education is here to help you accomplish your educational goals!  

We start with a SIMPLE & FREE Math and Reading assessment, called CASAS.  This is taken BEFORE you take any classes.  The scores from the CASAS are used to guide your placement into courses at the level that is perfect for you.  

All tests are held at the Sanford Community Adult Education office (Anderson Learning Center) Room 143 at 21 Bradeen Street, Sanford, Maine.

A certified first responder is a person who has completed a course and received certification in providing pre-hospital care for medical emergencies. Certified individuals should have received much more instruction than someone who is trained in basic first aid and CPR but they are not necessarily a substitute for more advanced emergency medical care rendered by EMTs and paramedics.

State Approved Certified Medical Technician Program. Includes: 60 hours classroom, 20 hours classroom/lab, and 40 hours clinical training. This is a 120 hour course preparing CNA’s working in nursing homes to administer medications under the supervision of an RN (is 40 hours piece should be scheduled at the facility, by the facility, and a schedule provided to the instructor.) PREREQUISITE: CNA license +2080 hours as a CNA. Call the Adult Ed Office at 778-3460 for an application and detailed registration requirements.

The 180 hour Certified Nursing Assistant Course is designed to prepare the student to be a Nursing Assistant. This Maine State Certified course includes 120 hours of classroom instruction plus 80 hours of clinical practice at local health care facilities. Requirements include a reading and math assessment, interview session, physical within the last year, immunization records, and dedication to a 18 week commitment. Call the Adult Ed Office at 778-3460 for application, registration requirements, details regarding dates, location and fees will be provided to participants.
