Felt Flower Wall Art

This firearms safety course is designed for adults seeking to develop a strong foundation in responsible gun ownership. Participants will learn the principles of firearm safety, safe handling, and storage practices. The instructor will go over different types of firearms and provide the basic functionality of each one. This course aims to build your confidence and equip you with essential skills for safe firearm handling. No prior experience is required. Participants will not be allowed to bring their own firearms to this class. No discounts.

A non-refundable $1.99 transaction fee will be added to the price of this class.

Hedgehog Painted Felt

Join us for an afternoon of DIY fun where each participant will make this adorable hedgehog-painted felt hoop artwork. Each participant will get a complete kit to learn to paint with wool, creating this beautiful hedgehog landscape art. This class is meant for beginners.  All tools, instructions, and materials will be waiting for you when you arrive—a $ 15 material fee to be paid in cash on the night of your class. Finished pieces measure approximately 6".   Melissa started her jewelry business, Gem Lounge Jewelry, in 2009 and is a proud 8th-generation Mainer, having grown up in southern Maine before attending college in New Orleans. Upon graduation, Ms. Evans moved back to New England, eventually settling back in her beloved state of Maine and finding inspiration for her creations all around. While her roots in Maine keep her grounded in the beautiful state, wanderlust brings her on travels around the world.

If you already understand the basics of crochet, but want to bring your skills to the next level, or just never learned how to decipher a pattern independently, then this is the course for you!  Learn to read more complex patterns, get tips and tricks to work smarter, not harder, and finish your project with help and support along the way.  This course is taught in the old "working bee" style, with the instructor demonstrating a technique, and plenty of workshop time to practice and hone your new skills.  Students will work together to assemble friendship afghans using advanced patterns and stitches.  Choose from one of the provided patterns, or bring your own, and learn how to sift through pattern notes and shorthand, choosing or substituting materials, and finishing your project with blocking and borders.

Using simple, accessible tools like a handheld kitchen torch and small metal anvils, students will practice with copper and brass before completing a final piece in silver. This class is perfect for those looking to bring metalworking into their home or pop-up studio. Registration closes at noon on 3/25.

 Jessica Muise, a multidisciplinary artist and educator has been teaching and making art throughout New England for the last 15 years. She is passionate about using the arts as tools for social change and serves as a creative economy advisor to several arts organizations and artist-led coalitions.
