AMP Dental Assisting (Feb)
with Academy of Medical Professions, Ellsworth Adult and Community Education
This is a 12-week Certificate program in Dental Assisting, one of the most high-demand careers. The program is designed to teach all aspects of dental assisting and provide you with the skills you need to work in this field and pass a national certificate exam. This program is taught by a dentist and includes Dental Assisting Certification, and includes an opportunity for internships. We now offer an option for lab days, please ask for more details!
The price of the course includes all books, exam preparation materials and fees for the DANB RHS® certificate program. Upon passing the DANB RHS®, you will receive a certificate of knowledge based on competency for that component from DANB. Payment plans are available. The classroom hours are live online with options for lab days in a dental office based on student's location and availability. This course is also available asynchronosly online and you can start anytime.

Quickbooks: Basic Accounting Principles & Quickbooks Online (Feb)

During these three sessions, you will learn basic accounting principles and how to apply them to setting up QuickBooks Online for a small business or organization. This is a live, online class using ZOOM.
The design of the course is that you'll attend the class and also do 2-3 hours of work with the software between sessions which greatly enhances your learning.
You will receive a link to a brief pre-assessment with your email receipt. This will assist the instructor in meeting your goals for the class.
Val is a lifelong business educator and academic advisor focused on helping enrich and enhance students' educational and life purposes. He is experienced in college management and as an adult educator having taught at Mid-State College and Kennebec Valley Community College. His teaching experience covers over 45 years in the areas of computer applications, accounting, and Quickbooks training workshops.
Watercolor Basics (Feb)

Watercolor Painting is an exciting medium; it flows and moves and does beautiful things. Instructor Mary Laury has been recognized for her work by the Maine Arts Commission. Participants will do landscapes and seascapes in this 4-session course. If you have never painted in watercolors we will start at the beginning. If you have painted before, you may pick up some new tips and tricks as well. We all learn together! This is an in-person course; makeup class, if needed, 03/04/25.

Easy Money Management

This is an easy-to-read book study so we can all work together to learn how to make our dollars stretch and plan for the future. This is an in-person class. No class 02/18/25.
Watercolor: Painting Beyond the Basics (Feb)

If you have painted in watercolors before and want to jump to the next level while painting with a supportive group to go deeper into your work, we will paint and discuss the works developed in the class to ask questions and share thoughts. Composition, value study, and texture will be discussed. This class will include painting from references of places you love, some still life work from your own keepsakes, and perhaps painting outside when the weather permits. Google Docs: Basics
with Vanessa Richards, Ellsworth Adult and Community Education
Google docs is an invaluable and easy to use online tool similar to Microsoft Word. It's free, accessible from all devices and is super easy to share. Learn how to create documents, master useful formatting functions, share documents with others, and more as time permits. This workshop will introduce you to these features and share resources for futher learning. This is an in-person class. No Class 2/18/2025
You’ll need a Gmail account for this workshop, and will need to know your account username and password. It’s ideal if you access your Gmail on the web vs. a computer-based program. If you’re not sure what this means, please contact us and we’ll be glad to assist you! Google applications are free and are a practical way to learn programs without investing in software.
Vanessa loves working with adult learners. She is really easy to be around and makes people extremely comfortable; she even makes learning math and computers fun! She is committed to helping adults discover their strengths, build their confidence, and realize they can accomplish their goals. In her free time, she loves to travel and explore the outdoors. Vanessa teaches math, science, technology, and provides college and career advising.
Heartsaver BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider (Feb)

This professional certification course certifies the student in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and choking protocols for all age groups, as well as other advanced skills including ventilation with an advanced airway or bag mask device. This is an in-person class.

Drawing-Anyone Can Draw (Feb/Online)

You can draw! Anyone can learn to draw. This 4-week class will teach you how to draw what you see. This class will give you a jump start to drawing accurately and give you confidence to draw for pleasure or as a base for your painting. Get ready for a whole world of seeing details that you have never noticed before! This is a live, online class using ZOOM.
Makeup class, if needed, 03/04/25.
For supplies, you will need a pencil, eraser, Sharpie, page protector, ruler and paper. Mary uses computer paper but a sketch book is fine.
