Accounting Fundamentals

In this course, you'll learn the basics of double-entry bookkeeping, as well as how to analyze and record financial transactions. You'll get hands-on experience with handling accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll procedures, sales taxes, and various common banking activities. We'll cover all the bases, from writing checks to preparing an income statement and closing out accounts at the end of each fiscal period.

Accounting Fundamentals II

This course will build on the knowledge you gained in Accounting Fundamentals, to provide you with a solid understanding of corporate accounting practices. You'll explore such topics as special journals, uncollectible accounts receivable, plant assets, depreciation, notes and interest, accrued revenue and expenses, dividends, retained earnings, and various financial reports for corporations.

Series bundles are not eligible for partial drops or refunds. Please complete the courses in the series two months apart to avoid overlapping. Behavioral Health Professional Training

In 2020-2021, Ellsworth Adult Education is not only offering courses, but promoting the courses of partners and other organizations. We can support you in connecting with the programs and assist with preparing you by providing options for brushing up on your skills, share time management and study skills, and more. 

If you're great with kids and want to make a significant difference in the lives of children and families, consider this BHP training and certification. It is required for direct care providers working in Children’s Behavioral Health Services, either in the school or home/community setting, in programs receiving MaineCare reimbursement for sections 28 RCS, 28 RCS Specialized, and 65 HCT or Day Treatment Services. Additional requirements for BHP certification include current Child & Adult CPR/First Aid certification and completion of an OSHA compliant Bloodborne Pathogens training.

To be eligible to take the BHP course, individuals must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Proof of education is required. Additional education requirements must be met to be eligible to provide MaineCare Section 65 services.
