Sharon Sperry is a life-long educator who has over 40 years of experience as a teacher and administrator in the U.S. and in dozens of countries overseas. She is currently retired but continues to sub in AOS 93 and Wiscasset schools.

Learn how to take photography to a new level and leave behind the program or auto mode on your camera.

 

Beginner Drone Flying

This 15-hour course is designed for anyone using or looking to use drones. We cover the operation of various models, hands-on flight practice, uses and applications across industries, FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) regulations, operational risks, insurance, career opportunities and much more. If you are currently working, or considering a career in, real estate, construction, transportation, agriculture, insurance, public safety, photography, media, inspection, etc. or want to start a business, you’ll learn how your industry can be transformed in new, cost-effective ways. We will discuss how the citizens of Maine are using these unmanned aircraft in their businesses and how best you can employ drones in your business or start a new one. Prerequisites: Must have a minimum of 8th grade English reading and writing level, and comfortable using a computer and internet browser. NOTE: Class times include a working lunch. Please come prepared with a bagged lunch, snacks and drinks. Microwave and fridge are available for use.

Plumbing Basics

Calendar Mar 17, 2020 at 6 pm, runs for 5 weeks

Master Plumber demonstrates how plumbing works in a home, discusses preventative maintenance and shows you how to tackle common problems and make simple repairs.  He will show you how to install or repair faucets, repair a toilet, clear drain clogs, sweat a pipe, determine what type of piping and fittings to use for specific projects, and when to call a professional.  The class will also cover student questions and topics.

Calendar Mar 17, 2020 at 6 pm, runs for 1 week

You will need to bring a DSLR with a flash (on camera is fine) to class for this exciting workshop in portraiture.

We will explore studio lighting, and the various methods of setting up lighting scenarios. There will be strobes and flash units available and the class will fully participate in making their own portraits. Enter the exciting world of portraiture and learn to take your own family portraits, senior pictures or even capture images of your beloved family pet.

 

Welding - STICK

This 36-hour (SMAW)course provides a solid foundation in welding techniques. Topics will include shop safety, the oxy/acetylene process, striking an arc and welding flat and horizontal positions.  Vertical positions will be covered if time permits.  Safety is covered in the first two sessions and students will be given access to an online industry recognized training course in Welding Safety through S/P2®.

Payment plan available: $100 deposit plus 3 payments of $85.00, paid every two weeks.

Welding - MIG II - Advanced

This 36-hour course is for students with prior MIG welding experience, and students who have previously taken the MIG I course. The course will cover advanced machine setup, advanced weld joint setup, and multi-pass welding in hard wire and flux core MIG.  Safety is covered in the first two sessions and students will be given access to an online industry recognized training course in Welding Safety through S/P2®.

Payment plan available: $100 deposit plus 4 payments of $63.75, paid every two weeks.
