PVAEC and TCTC are offering a CDL-B course to prepare you for written and road tests for your CDL-B license. Instruction is based on State Laws, Industry Regulations and Equipment Maintenance required for licensing. State of Maine standards for classroom and driving instruction are adhered to during the course. Students spend a good part of their instructional time operating trucks through a combination of on the range practice and road time. Students that successfully complete the program will possess entry-level skills as required by the trucking industry. There will be a pre-employment drug test, and DOT physical (included with tuition costs). Gaining your CDL-B license opens up many employment opportunities including, bus drivers, lineman utility truck, snow plow truck, and more! For more information, please call 564-6525. Looking for a new career?  Interested in changing lives of those around you?  How about a part-time career or to get paid to work out?  This program is designed to teach you everything you need to know to enter the health and fitness field as a group fitness instructor and/or personal trainer.  Our trainers are highly recognized in this field, with more than 20 years experience, and will provide you hands-on training to pass the national tests through AFAA.  The program is all-inclusive and will include AED, First Aid and CPR certifications as well.  You may choose to complete both group fitness and personal training, or take one or the other.  Lectures are once a week for 10 or 20 weeks.  $1,500 or $3,000 for both.  All materials included in fee including National Certification Exams.  TO REGISTER OR PAYMENT PLANS CALL The Academy of Medical Professions. 866-516-8274 or  207-721-0714 or www.academyofmedicalprofessions.com

CNAs are caregivers who provide patients assistance with activities of daily living and basic needs. They also help patients feel safe and comfortable throughout their hospital stay. These direct caregivers spend most of their time assisting patients and listening to their concerns. The State of Maine approved CNA course includes classroom work, skills labs, and clinical experience. Candidates must present either a high school diploma, or HiSET/GED. Enrollment is limited to 10. The admission process includes enrollment into our Career Readiness Program, a criminal background check, placement testing, and a series of meetings with PVAEC staff. A non-refundable application fee of $50 is required. The cost of the class is $1,150, which includes tuition, textbook, background check, and state exam.

Computer Training for Small Business

Your business is unique, so are your training needs. Our staff consultant works with you to assess your needs and to customize computer-based or business training for you and/or your staff. Workshops are offered at the McLain School computer lab classroom in all topics covered in our array of computer, business and workforce courses. From Business Ethics and Customer Service to Cloud Computing and managing company Excel spreadsheets, we will work to design and deliver training for your own unique business needs. One-On-One Training & Consulting, $45/hour plus planning time Small Group Training (up to 8 participants), $50/hour plus planning time. All Inclusive 14 week program. 

Work One-On-One with a Pharmacy Technician Trainer and entirely online with support from a Pharmacy Technician and Trainer.  The Pharmacy Technician is one of the fastest growing jobs in health care today.  In this course, you will learn everything from the role of the technician in the pharmacy setting, to the basic sciences at the core of pharmacy practice, to preparing for the PTCB exam.  You will learn complete drug information that includes proper name, spelling and pronunciation, drug class, generic and trade name, route of administration, dosage and more of hundreds of drugs.  You will be able to identify pills on sight with pill photos, gain a better understanding of how certain drugs work within the body with a concise review of relevant anatomy and physiology, and stay up to date with cutting-edge pharmacy practice with the latest information on new drugs, regulations, HIPAA guidelines and safety procedures.  You will be ready to pass your PTCB national certification included in cost. $1,850.00.

Join Master Plumber Mike Kee as he demonstrates how plumbing works in a home, discusses preventative maintenance and shows you how to tackle common problems and make simple repairs. He will show you how to install or repair faucets, repair a toilet, clear drain clogs, sweat a pipe, determine what type of piping and fittings to use for specific projects, and when to call a professional. The class will also cover student questions and topics.
