Information is Power. Life can be overwhelming these days with school, work, and family. Stress is a fact of life; we need to learn how to manage it. We will learn how to take advantage of the positive and reduce the negative effects of stress!_x005F_x005F_x005F_x000D_ Anger is one of the most misunderstood over-used human emotions. In this class we will learn how to recognize anger by identifying our anger triggers. We will learn about the three components of anger; the Emotional State, the Expression, and the Understanding. This class will increase your knowledge about how anger affects you. You will learn new ways to cope with anger and set goals to manage anger more effectively. Learning how to manage stress and anger is a way of taking control of your life. It is also a way of staying healthy and happy.

This class assists students who are not native English speakers develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Instruction is designed to meet learners’ needs and can include helping participants with such important tasks as exploring how to talk with their child’s teacher, scheduling healthcare appointments, completing grocery shopping, obtaining a driver’s license, finding employment or learning about other valuable community resources. Students can enter the class at any time and there is no charge for instruction. Learners at all levels of English proficiency are welcome. For more information, please call 474-7553.

The course focus is on developing reading and writing skills. You will learn to identify and correct common writing errors, and learn helpful techniques to get your ideas down on paper. We will read short stories, a novel, opinion essays and non-fiction articles. The class will benefit students preparing for the HiSET or college and credit recovery students needing English credits for their high school diploma.

The class format is flexible enough to meet individual needs.  An introductory meeting will determine the most appropriate level. For those who can speak and read basic English, with a focus on grammar and reading skills.  No class 02/17, 02/19, 04/20, 04/22 or 05/25.
