HiSET Appointment/Assessment & Learning Lab
with Boothbay Region Adult & Community Education

Set up an appointment with adult education staff for intake, assessment and advising. After we get to know you and your goals, you will take the CASAS reading and math tests, which helps us determine your learning level. These are not graded and the score is informational. It helps us get to know you as a unique learner so we can support your educational goals. Once intake and assessment is complete, you can begin preparing for the HiSET by attending learning labs. A qualified instructor will help you strategize your learning tasks so you get the support you need in the areas you need it. For more information please visit us at: https://boothbayae.maineadulted.org/ or email: kwinslow@aos98schools.org
High School Equivalency Test (HiSET)
with Old Orchard Beach/Saco Adult Education

The HiSET is recognized as a form of high school completion by employers and college admissions. The HiSET tests cover five core subjects: Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies, and Writing. A passing grade in each subject area is required to earn a high school diploma equivalency.
Students must be at least 17 years old, officially withdraw from their high school before taking the official HiSET tests, and have reliable transportation to and from classes and testing appointments.
Contact us today to schedule an intake appointment!
- Call or text our Saco Learning Center at (207) 282-3846
- Email learningcenter@rsu23.org
- Fill out a Google calendar appointment
After your appointment and CASAS assessments are completed, our Chief HiSET Examiner, Liis Nigol, will contact you and set up practice test appointments. (At the Saco Learning Center, we offer in-person preparation classes on Monday and Tuesday evenings, one-on-one math tutoring, and at-home study materials to assist those who need more prep before beginning the official testing.) Upon passing the five practice tests, you will be scheduled for official testing. Note: Practice and official testing are done at our Old Orchard Beach offices only. Official testing requires a valid photo ID issued by the State of Maine.
