Do you want to enter the medical field, but aren’t sure where to start? CNA’s provide assistance with daily care activities to patients in residential facilities and hospitals. This course follows the Maine State Board of Nursing 130 hour CNA course curriculum. Students who successfully complete the course will sit for the Maine State Board of Nursing exam.

This Medical Terminology course will be helpful for any career that uses medical terminology such as medical coding, health information technology, medical transcription, working as a health care professional, or working in the administrative side of health care.

This course will help prepare you for jobs related to health care by teaching you the language of medicine, including an overview of how the different organ systems function, information about many different medical disorders, and information about diagnostic and treatment procedures. As a result, this course will help prepare you for related college courses and for certification or admissions exams that expect you to have an understanding of medical terminology. For example, this course will help prepare you for the certification exam for medical coders and for the HESI exam which is often required for admission into nursing schools.

The Pharmacy Technician course prepares students to enter the pharmacy field and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam.

Course content includes:

1.  Pharmacy medical terminology

2.  Reading and interpreting prescriptions

3.  Defining generic and brand name drugs

*You must show proof of having a high school diploma or equivalency to get into this program. You will take a short reading test prior to the start date of the class.

•Medical Administrative Assistant- 16 Weeks. Classes are held once a week for 2 hours via Zoom and are recorded. You may choose to attend the course Live via Zoom or Self-paced by watching the recorded classes; both program options have instructor support. You will learn HIPAA compliance and health information in the medical office, insurance and billing procedures, financial and practice management, and administrative duties. In addition, we take you through the “virtual medical office” which gives you the opportunity to practice “real” medical office skills before entering the workforce. All books, virtual materials, and CMAA Exam Fees are included. $3,200.

•Medical Administrative Professional Program- 36 Weeks. This course track combines two programs: Medical Administrative Assistant with Billing, as well as Medical Coding with CPC-A, leaving you with 2 national certifications. It also includes our programs at a discounted rate. The Medical Professional courses are designed to be completed one after the other; course timing will be coordinated with you by our Education Advisors. Both programs offer Live Classes via Zoom and Self-Paced options; you may mix and match. This course includes all resources, books, and exam fees for both the Medical Administrative Assistant with Billing and the Medical Coding with CPC-A. ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS All applicants must be 18 years of age. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is also required by program completion. Basic computer skills required.

Medical transcription is a desired field for most people trying to work at home. Strong typing, computer, and English grammar skills are essential. Medical terminology, formats, rules and regulations, jobs, calculation of pay, confidentiality, and tricks of the trade, all equipment, reference books, and course books are provided with the course fee. Classes are online for 16-weeks with a completion of 16- weeks to 6-month options. This is a State Certified Program, and you will receive a Certificate of Completion and Letter of Recommendation upon graduation, resumes and how to obtain a job are covered in this program. Program includes medical terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, and transcription. $3200, includes everything for the course and the field. Required: typing skills above 60 WPM, Microsoft Word proficient. Meditation practices are used by diverse cultures, are rooted in the traditions of the great religions, and have been practiced for thousands of years to promote healing. Evidence of meditation's health effects has been well documented: the practice offers improvement in the symptoms of various disease conditions in addition to the experience of a deeper spiritual connection.

The outcome of this certificate is for the learner to describe the types and practices of meditation, specific health effects, and the practice of mindfulness meditation.
