140 Classroom Hours w/ a Clinical Externship

For students who want to prepare for an exciting, challenging and rewarding career in healthcare. This program trains students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office. Instruction includes preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, technical aspects of phlebotomy and the cardiac life cycle. Includes hands-on labs and a clinical externship opportunity at a local healthcare provider. To be eligible for clinical rotation, students must successfully complete the 140-hour program, submit to a thorough background check, drug screening and meet other requirements. Note: Upon successful completion of this program, students are eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national examination.

*By "signing up" for this class you will be put on our interest list. Currently there is no CCMA course scheduled at Lake Region and Fryeburg Area Adult Ed.   Gray-New Gloucester Adult & Community Education may already have a class scheduled and we encourage you to reach out to them.

 

Dental Assisting

Registration for this class is free, meaning there is no fee to sign up for the course.

However, once registered, there is a cost of $3,200 to enroll in the class itself.

This is an online course.  This class can be taken anytime.

Your registration doesn't secure your spot in the class.  Your registration details are necessary for SCAE to forward to American Medical Professionals.  Payments go directly to American Medical Professionals.  They offer multiple payment methods.

After signing up for the class, you'll receive a packet to fill out and send directly to American Medical Professionals.

Once you have filled out the paperwork and the information requested, Academy of Medical Professionals will reach out to you to complete your registration process.

12-week all-inclusive Certificate program in Dental Assisting for one of the most high-demand careers.  This program is designed to teach all aspects of dental assisting and provide you with the skills you need to work in this field and pass a national certificate exam.  This program is taught by a Dentist and includes an opportunity for internships.  We can now offer an option for Lab days, please ask for more details!  The price of the course includes all books, exam preparation materials, and fees for the DANB RHS certificate program.  Upon passing the DANB RHS, you will receive a certificate of knowledge based on competency for that component from DANB.

Phlebotomy Application

***This is ONLY the APPLICATION. Students must be interviewed and accepted into the course. Upon acceptance the cost of the training will be $1,700.00.   Course will only run with at least 5 students in the class.**

This course is designed to prepare the entry-level phlebotomist or those individuals seeking a medical career pathway with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to perform in a medical laboratory environment. The phlebotomy student gains confidence and professionalism in the art of obtaining blood samples for laboratory analysis through repeated hands-on practice and instructor feedback. Students are provided instruction in the areas of communication, medical terminology, proper specimen collection, basic anatomy & physiology, as well as complications and variables surrounding venipuncture. In addition to instruction students will complete a 2 week clinical experience.

Upon completion of the course students will receive 3 credits through UMPI. The cost for this program is $1700.  Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.

Upon registration, program and application materials will be sent to you.

***Preference will be given to those who complete (or start the process of) immunizations prior to the interview. This includes HepB, which takes several weeks to complete. 

Application deadline is Friday,August 2nd, 2024 and interviews will follow shortly after.  Classes will begin on September 3rd.

Region 9 Adult and Community Education Launches New Career Pathways Program With a Focus on Plumbing and HVAC!

Dave Murphy, the Region 9 Adult and Community Education Director, recently announced the creation of a new program that will be designed to provide interested community members with information about various career opportunities in the area. These sessions will begin in May and will be free to the public, although participants will be required to register beforehand.

Kicking off the series will be Mike Field, owner of Field Plumbing and Heating in Newry. Mr. Field attended Region 9 as a student and now runs a very successful business in the area. He will focus on providing some insights into the benefits of considering a future in the plumbing and heating/HVAC profession as well as outlining some of the steps that interested participants can take to begin that process. In addition to providing some information about the profession, there will also be a time for him to respond to any questions people might have. 

Employers and area companies interested in sponsoring an evening in this series are encouraged to contact Dave Murphy at (207)364-2012 OPT 4 for further information.

Registrations for this event will be limited so interested parties are urged to sign up as soon as possible.
