Children’s Behavioral Health Services is vital to Maine’s children with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, and Mental Health Disorders and their families. The need in our area is great!

We are excited to connect our adult education community with this wonderful ONLINE training program. This online training is Free. The training will prepare you for employment through local social services agencies and the school districts.  

The program can be started at any time and finished at your own pace. You will complete 12 online modules then 3, 4-hour live sessions, including the new ethics and boundaries training. 

Once the modules are completed, participants that do not already possess CPR certification will be required to complete either in-person or blended Child & Adult CPR/FA training. You can take CPR through Adult Education or Woodfords Services. 

The entire training requirements will take about 45 hours. Any individual who will be 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or equivalency upon completion of the course may register.

You will master medical calculations in and engaging environment in these fun and practical lessons. You will gain the medical math skills you need for anything from calculating dosages to using scientific formulas. Whatever medical field you are in, the hands-on activities in this course will help you perform day-to-day math tasks quickly and easily.

You will brush up your basic math skills by reviewing fractions, decimals, and percentages. Then you will dive into measurement systems and conversions used in the medical field. You will do dosage calculations for oral, parenteral, and intravenous medications. You will explore three different methods you can use for dosage calculations. You will also learn an easy formula that you can apply to many dosage calculations. Then you will get an introduction to basic statistics and probability. You will find out how to interpret the latest medical findings for your patients. Whether you are new to the field of medicine or want to enhance your skills, this is the course for you. By the time you finish these lessons, you will have a solid grounding in basic medical math.

This 14-week program prepares you to pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam. You will also receive a Certificate of Completion through the Academy of Medical Professions.   This program is active for ONE YEAR from date the of the Student’s activation, this allows you the time to successfully complete the program and to review up until the day you sit for the National Certification Exam.

Who is a Dental Assistant?

The purpose of this course is to gain background knowledge and vocabulary for an entry level position in the clinical or administrative dental setting. Learning media provide specific insight into preclinical and clinical areas of dental assisting, reviewing chapter content and the application of content. Chapters include professional and legal aspects of dental assisting, anatomy and physiology, dental anatomy, infection control and hazardous materials, dental treatment, patient care, dental imaging, preventative dentistry, restorative dentistry, and specialized dentistry. Students will be given the building blocks for DANB RHS content certifications, and access to materials to prepare for this exam. Resume writing (including updated personal resume) and professional development are required for graduation.
