This course is designed to prepare the entry-level phlebotomist or those individuals seeking a medical career pathway with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to perform in a medical laboratory environment. The phlebotomy student gains confidence and professionalism in the art of obtaining blood samples for laboratory analysis through repeated hands-on practice and instructor feedback. Students are provided instruction in the areas of communication, medical terminology, proper specimen collection, basic anatomy & physiology, as well as complications and variables surrounding venipuncture. In addition to instruction students will complete a 2 week clinical experience.

Upon completion of the course students will receive 3 credits through UMPI. The cost for this program is $1700.  Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.

***Preference will be given to those who complete (or start the process of) immunizations prior to the interview. This includes HepB, which takes several weeks to complete. 

Application deadline is Friday,August 2nd, 2024 and interviews will follow shortly after.  Classes will begin on September 3rd.

C.N.A. (Certified Nursing Assistant) 

This course will provide you with the skills and experiences to be Maine State Certified as a Nursing Assistant. The course includes the 130 hours required by the State of Maine consisting of a minimum of 70 hours of classroom instruction, 20 hours of lab time, and 40 hours of clinical work. Students who complete the course will be eligible to sit for the Maine CNA competency test.

Requirements Include: State background check, orientation and satisfactory score on the CASAS math and reading assessment, proof of physical within the last year, immunization records, and a willingness to fully commit to the compact 8 week summer training schedule. 

*Proof of physical and vaccination record required as per state requirements and clinical agreement with our clinical partner.

Fee: $1,850 (includes non refundable background check fee)

The program can be started at any time and finished at your own pace. You will complete 12 online modules and then three 4-hour live (in-person or virtual) sessions. Once the modules are completed, you will receive free online blood-borne pathogen training and Child and Adult First Aid and CPR certification. In just 40 hours, our free remote training program can get you certified and on your way to a life-changing profession. Must be a Maine resident and at least 18 years old with a high school diploma, or equivalent, to become certified .Pre-registration is required to receive online link.
