Videoconferencing with Healthcare Providers, Family, & Friends

There are several options for speaking face to face with family, friends or coworkers over a device connected to the internet. In this class we will look at some of the most popular options out there including Zoom with a short tutorial on navigating the Zoom room.

The National Digital Equity Center has been, and will continue to be, a thought leader on digital equity and digital inclusion.The National Digital Equity Center provides Digital Literacy classes that provide opportunities for professional growth, personal enrichment, the development of computer skills, and preparation for professional careers in a supportive environment. Customized training and consulting solutions are offered to businesses and industries, as well as community residents. Online classes are held in a live interactive form using a videoconference platform; in-person classes are at community locations in collaboration with partner organizations. We provide all instruction in a small group interactive learning setting, whether it is online or in-person.
MacOS Basics (3 sessions)

Learn how to get the most out of your Mac computer. This course will cover the basics of how to use Apple’s operating system, which works on Apple’s popular line of laptops and desktops. This class starts with the basic functions of the MacOS operating system and how to navigate through folders, files, and menus. Organizing, moving, and saving files will be covered too. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptop computer running MacOS, as only a limited number of computers are available to be provided for this class, taught by an instructor from the National Digital Equity Center. Using Software & Devices for Better Health

In this class, we will explore apps, software, and devices that help promote and maintain exercise and diet, monitoring blood sugar, blood pressure, weight medication reminders, using FitBits, Apple Watch, etc., and connecting with Bluetooth.

iPhone Basics

This course covers the basics of how to use Apple’s popular iPhone. This class starts with the basics of how to log on using multiple methods from passcode to touch id to face recognition technology. Apple’s iCloud service will be discussed, including how it will help secure your data and allow your data to be used across multiple Apple devices. The App Store will be covered to find additional applications that may meet your varied interests and needs.

Get Started with a Password Manager

Do you struggle to remember your passwords? Or maybe you re-use the same one over and over, even though you know you shouldn't? This hands-on workshop will set you up to get started with a free password manager program called Bitwarden, so you will never lose your passwords again! Walk through the steps to create an account, set your master password, and input your other passwords into the system. By the end of the class, you'll have the tools you need to manage your passwords like a pro. This class is held at the Bangor Public Library. To register, call 922-6055.

Microsoft Excel Intermediate During this session, you will learn how to navigate multiple worksheets, save your workbook, create formulas, use functions, change the layout of your worksheet, and how to create practical worksheets. 1040 Income Tax – Maintain tax information that is very useful when preparing your annual tax return. The design of this course includes 2-3 hours of work with the software between sessions to gain maximum benefit from the sessions. Some examples of using Microsoft Excel as a Practical Tool: Grocery Shopping List – Quickly create a weekly grocery shopping list. What a time saver! Contractor Estimate Calculator - Great tool for any contractor who has to provide estimates for customers. Household Budget – Create a monthly budget of your household expenditures. This is a live online class using ZOOM. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey included in your automated receipt so the instructor can tailor the course to meet your needs. You will want to have Microsoft Excel on your computer for this workshop and many people find it helpful to have two monitors though it is certainly not necessary to benefit from the sessions.
