This free workshop introduces people to educational opportunities in general and Maine Educational Opportunities Center services in particular. This interactive workshop touches on the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career options, and study skills. The admissions section reviews college options, the college search process and the application structure. The fundamentals of financial aid, including the filing process and the applications, are covered in detail. Career options in our geographic area and counseling are introduced. Effective transitions into college, college readiness and study skills are discussed. This workshop is scheduled on an individual basis. Math Learning Lab

Students enrolled in this course have the opportunity to learn basic, everyday math skills, prepare for the HiSET math exam and/or brush up on math for college, in a relaxed, comfortable enviroment. If you have always found math to be a struggle, join our math learning lab to gain more confidence. Our instructors assess students and develop individualized programs to meet academic needs.

Naples:

  • Tuesdays:  8:30 am to 7:00pm
  • Wednedays:  8:30 am to 2:00pm
  • Thursdays:  8:30 am to 12:00pm

Fryeburg:

  • Tuesday:  10:00 am to 3:00 pm

Mathematics for College

PART 1: Prepare for the Next Gen Accuplacer test in Arithmetic. Topics include operations with whole numbers, decimals, fractions and percents. This course is recommended for beginning math students who need to rebuild the foundational math skills and concepts needed for more advanced math studies. Accuplacer Arithmetic testing is provided for students (at no cost) during the last class. PART 2: Prepare for the Next Gen Accuplacer test in Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra and Statistics (QRAS). Topics include proportions, exponents, algebraic expressions, linear equations, statistics, probability and geometric concepts. Students entering this course should be fluent in basic math operations (add, subtract, multiply and divide) and have confidence working with fractions. Accuplacer QRAS testing is provided for students (at no cost) during the last class. Classes are held weekly on Zoom and students will use Brightspace to access assignments and quizzes.
