Students enrolled in this certificate program complete a minimum of 130 hours of classroom, laboratory, and clinical training, meeting all state licensing requirements. Upon successful completion of the course and passage of the state competency exam, the student will be eligible to enter the healthcare field as a Certified Nursing Assistant under the direction of a licensed nurse. Class size is limited so applying early is advised. Funding opportunities are available through the Pen Bay Apprentice Program's "Earn While You Learn" option, as well as several other programs. This is the 6 hour recertification exam for the CRMA whose certificate is still current. It includes a brief review, presented by the instructor. Plan to study on your own to ensure successful relicensing. Current CRMA holders must provide copy of valid certificate. Call 596-7752 extension 104 to register.

This 40-hour CRMA course includes classroom training, with clinical available after successful completion of classroom. All students must complete clinical, either with our instructor or arranged through your facility. Successful students will be certified to administer oral medications to residents in state-licensed assisted living facilities. Clinical component is an additional $125 if done with MCST instructor. Are you interested in obtaining a USCG Captain’s License? Do you want to learn the differences between an Operator Uninspected Passenger Vessel (OUPV) license and a Master 100GT license, and what experience the Coast Guard requires for each? These informational sessions will help answer these questions and others about the two licenses. Also discussed will be the different methods for completing the course requirements. We plan to offer both courses in Maine during the Fall of 2024, representing the Captain School Key West/Miami. This information session is free, but please register in advance, so the instructor knows how many individuals will be attending and can send login instructions.

This course is designed to prepare the entry-level phlebotomist or those individuals seeking a medical career pathway with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to perform in a medical laboratory environment. The phlebotomy student gains confidence and professionalism in the art of obtaining blood samples for laboratory analysis through repeated hands-on practice and instructor feedback. Students are provided instruction in the areas of communication, medical terminology, proper specimen collection, basic anatomy & physiology, as well as complications and variables surrounding venipuncture. In addition to instruction students will complete a 2 week clinical experience.

Upon completion of the course students will receive 3 credits through UMPI. The cost for this program is $1700.  Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.
