BEYOND SELFIES - SMART PHONE PORTRAITS

Want a great portrait? This class is for anyone who would like to use their smartphone to take better portraits. It will cover the topics: using phone apps, lighting, location and portraiture. Bring your cell phone with a camera apps, and a thumb drive.
Preschool Playgroup II

Let’s play! Join us as we read, sing, and play together with your preschool children. Learn activities which will help prepare your child for school success. Social skills play an important part in preparing for “big” school. Your child will practice these skills while playing in a learning environment. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. Please notify us of any allergies as we ask all parents to bring a snack for their child. No classes 2/17, 4/20.

SAT Prep: Accelerated Math ONLY
with Instructor Hayward, Scarborough Adult Learning Center
For advanced math students who are looking to score 600+. This course will be accelerated, hitting on all topics covered in Get Me Ready Math. Lessons will also include advanced concepts such as the unit circle, trig properties, conditional probability and elementary conics (circles and parabolas). Instructor Hayward has taught SAT prep classes since 1998, teaches high school math through AP Calculus currently at Scarborough High. He earned his Mathematics degree from UMe and Master’s degree in Secondary Teaching of Mathematics from UNH.
Four Tues, 3/17 to 4/7/2020, 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Room A104
Cost: $150 for this one course alone, or choose BOTH a math and the read/writing course for a discount!
Cost includes all materials and Special Math Bonus Lab: Mon, 4/13, 6-8pm, for students of both math classes. Students can work independently, work together, and/or get extra help from Mr. Hayward. An extra practice exam will be given as an option. Come for any part or all of the time.
iOS Essentials (iPHONES & iPADS)
with MICHAEL BURD, Franklin County Adult Education
Learn how the iPhone/iPad can become your portable command center. Create an apple ID to access App Store and backup to iCloud. Understand the Settings menu, OS Updates, camera, calendar, contacts, messaging, installing apps and more. Learn also how to multitask, conserve battery life, monitor your data usage and how/when to switch to an available WiFi connection to conserve your expensive data plan. Bring your iPhone/iPad.

All tests are held at Sanford Community Adult Education (Anderson Learning Center) Room 143 at 21 Bradeen Street, Sanford, Maine.
SAT Prep: Evidence-based Reading & Writing ONLY
with Instructor Clements, Scarborough Adult Learning Center
Covers all aspects of SAT Reading and Writing sections, including sentence completion, passage-based reading, vocabulary-in-context, literal comprehension, and extended reasoning questions. Instructor Clements earned his English degree from Brown University with a master’s degree in education from U Mass. He has taught at Cape Elizabeth High since 2004 and worked for the College Board since 2005 correcting SAT timed essays.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER TRAINING

Are you interested in becoming a substitute Teacher/Ed. Tech. in RSU #9? We are offering a one-day substitute training at the Adult Learning Center.
