Learn the basics of MS Excel. We will cut, copy, paste, become familiar with fonts, format cells, merge and center, learn number formatting, auto sum, sort and filter charts, learn functions and formulas, hide columns/rows, split, freeze panes, and much more! We will also look at compatibility with other MS Office Suite products. Students will need to bring a thumb drive to class. Limit 12 students.

SAT Prep: Get Me Ready Math ONLY

Calendar Mar 16, 2020 at 6 pm, runs for 4 weeks

For students who need a brush up and test taking strategies to attain optimal success on their SAT Math test. Students will review solving and interpreting linear equations, systems and quadratics. We’ll also talk about how to recognize and work with exponential function, function notation and composite functions. Test taking tips and calculator strategies also addressed. Instructor Hayward has taught SAT prep classes since 1998, teaches high school math through AP Calculus currently at Scarborough High. He earned his Mathematics degree from UMe and Master’s degree in Secondary Teaching of Mathematics from UNH.

Four Mon, 3/16 to 4/6/2020, 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Room A104

Cost: $150 for this one course alone, or choose BOTH a math and the read/writing course for a discount!

Cost includes all materials and Special Math Bonus Lab: Mon, 4/13, 6-8pm, for students of both math classes. Students can work independently, work together, and/or get extra help from Mr. Hayward.  An extra practice exam will be given as an option. Come for any part or all of the time.

SAT Prep: Accelerated Math ONLY

For advanced math students who are looking to score 600+.  This course will be accelerated, hitting on all topics covered in Get Me Ready Math. Lessons will also include advanced concepts such as the unit circle, trig properties, conditional probability and elementary conics (circles and parabolas). Instructor Hayward has taught SAT prep classes since 1998, teaches high school math through AP Calculus currently at Scarborough High. Understand the Settings menu, OS Updates, camera, calendar, contacts, messaging, installing apps and more. Learn also how to multitask, conserve battery life, monitor your data usage and how/when to switch to an available WiFi connection to conserve your expensive data plan. Bring your iPhone/iPad.

All tests are held at Sanford Community Adult Education (Anderson Learning Center) Room 143 at 21 Bradeen Street, Sanford, Maine.

Calendar Mar 18, 2020 at 6 pm, runs for 4 weeks

Covers all aspects of SAT Reading and Writing sections, including sentence completion, passage-based reading, vocabulary-in-context, literal comprehension, and extended reasoning questions. Instructor Clements earned his English degree from Brown University with a master’s degree in education from U Mass. He has taught at Cape Elizabeth High since 2004 and worked for the College Board since 2005 correcting SAT timed essays.
