HiSET Preparation Learning Lab

Calendar Current session started Jul 8, 2020 at 4 pm, runs for 6 weeks

Our HiSET preparation learning labs are designed to help students preparing to take the HiSET in math, reading, writing, science or social studies. These labs are available on a drop in basis for students working on any subject and instructors provide direct instruction in an individualized environment. Students may work in small groups or independently, depending on the number of students and their needs. Additionally, students will be eligible to register on our online learning platform to access instructional material at home.

Math Lab for Career, College, and Certification

This math lab is designed for adults that wish to improve college or pre-college test scores as well as increase your opportunities to earn new career certifications. This class will be delivered live but through an online platform.  Course fee $80: to waive this fee, contact Marci Dionne at marci.dionne@rsu35.org to see if you qualify for free academic support as an adult education student.

We start with a FREE Math and Reading Assessment (and short Essay) 

This must be taken BEFORE you register for classes.

The scores from the CASAS are used to guide your placement into courses at the level that is perfect for you.  

All tests are held at Sanford Community Adult Education (Anderson Learning Center) Room 143 at 21 Bradeen Street, Sanford, Maine.

Spruce Mountain Adult Education offers both paper-and-pencil and computer-delivered assessments.  A $5 fee will be charged for testing.  If a student enrolls in our program, the fee will be waived.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

College Next is designed to prepare students for college with the skills and confidence to be successful. The program is offered by Maine College and Career Access (MCCA), with support from UMA-Rockland Center.  College Next consists of three sections and students may take any combination that meets their personal needs and schedule.

 

"We anticipate a face-to-face Orientation, followed by online classes via Zoom meetings. Staff are available at 594-9764, 9-3, M-TH to answer your questions. Be well!"

This multi-week class prepares students to enter college and choose a career path.  Take the Accuplacer exam and improve your scores.  Introduce yourself to technology and learn about the college environment.  Bring your math and writing skills to "college level".  Apply for financial aid, too! Take the mystery out of college! Earn one CMCC or UMA credit by completing the requirements for the class.
