Co-Ed Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals

In a non-threatening safe environment with no live ammunition present, learn the basics of: handgun safety at home, how to adjust your mindset to make you less likely a victim of an attack; how to respond to a threatening situation; about use of force for self-protection; how to handle a pistol safely; parts of a pistol and ammunition; fundamentals of pistol shooting including holding, stance and aiming; common malfunctions; and selecting a pistol just right for you. The two-hour range time is separately scheduled and has a fee of $60 payable to the instructor. When you go to the range, you’ll fire either your own pistol or one from the instructor and try to put five rounds of ammunition through 4 separate target circles at ten feet using only 20 rounds. You will need 50 rounds of ammunition for your personal handgun. If “renting” a pistol from the instructor, she will have 50 rounds of ammunition for you for a cost of $25. Certification can be used to apply for a Maine Concealed Carry Permit. The two-hour semi-private range lesson time will be scheduled separately from class and is an additional fee.

What, Where, & How: Introduction to the Stock Market

This class will help you understand what the stock market is and how it works. You will learn the language of the stock market and how to paricipate (or not). Plus, topics such as managing expectations and public vs, private companies will be covered. Time will also be spent delving into the intricacies of the stock market, exploring its workings and potential pitfalls. Discover whether you’re inclined to join the market or remain an observer. If you have a company pension or a 401K, a mutual fund, or any other investment vehicle, you’re already a “player” in the stock market.
Doug Parcher is a veteran teacher/instructor and a life-long learner with many areas of content mastery. He graduated with s composition/performance degree from The City Cellege of New York iun Haarlem. He has taught, performed and survived 25 years living in NYC before moving to a historic hobby farm on the Sheepscot river with, 2 horses, 2 goats, 2 dogs snd a cat.

Beginner Gardening - Starting from Seed

Mid to late May is typically an ideal time to start planting your garden in the Midcoast of Maine. We will talk about what plants can be sown directly into the ground at this time of year vs what plants should be started indoors. This class will focus on vegetable, herb and companion flower seedlings for your garden. Come prepared to get a little dirty during this is a hands-on class and walk away with seedlings to jumpstart your gardening! The cost of the class includes all materials. However, a variety of additional seedling kits will be available to purchase at class for $10 per kit.
Mei-Ling Cheung has a background in horticulture, urban forestry and permaculture. In her newest endeavor, she is providing a variety of classes to help people learn how to live a more sustainable lifestyle. Her classes focus on practical, hands-on skills and her style of teaching is fun and casual, yet structured and informative.

Many providers and patients in Maine are still not familiar with Maine's Death with Dignity Act. In effect since September 2019, the law permits physicians to practice medical aid-in-dying under specific circumstances. Know the facts and, if qualified, the right to access medical aid in dying if they choose. Join this class to get fact-based information and all the details you need to know about Maine's law, how to have the conversation with your physician, and how to qualify for the law or support your loved one who may be qualifying. (No materials/supplies required).

Cara Cribb is the founder and executive director of Anchor ME Farm, a nonprofit that provides a safe space for people by doing therapeutic activities with unconventional animals. Ducks have been an instant favorite animal and coming across all of the issues with this species, Cara has learned how to care for each one and would love to share.
