Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (Online with in-person labs)

This session is remote classes with in-person labs May - December 2024.
CMA certification is an ideal step if you are considering a nursing degree or an entry-level clinical position. Take the next step in your healthcare career!
Clinical Medical Assitants (CMA) are an essential role in healthcare and are in high demand locally!
CMAs work with providers mainly in outpatient facilities; they are a critical part of a patient’s care team.
Our CCMA program provides instruction, lab practice, and hands-on training. Externships are completed at the end of the course.
CMA training includes:
- Administrative and clinical duties
- Preparing patients for examinations and treatment
- Updating medical records - EMR
- Taking and documenting vital signs
- Routine lab procedures
- Diagnostic testing, including EKG
- Basic phlebotomy and the cardiac life cycle
- Workplace expectations and professionalism
- Training includes an externship prior to employment
Additional CCMA courses include: Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology, and Medical Math.

CNA Interest List

CNAs are caregivers who provide patients assistance with activities of daily living and basic needs. They also help patients feel safe and comfortable throughout their hospital stay. These direct caregivers spend most of their time assisting patients and listening to their concerns.
This is a class, laboratory, and clinical component course that will prepare the student to take the Maine State Board of Nursing (MSBoN) CNA examination. The course is 180 hours spanning over 20 weeks. Most meeting days are on Saturday, with some Tuesday afternoon/evenings as well. You must attend all sessions. Our clinical partners are Norway Health and Rehabilitation Center and Bridgton Hospital.

Captain's License Information Night 8.7.24

Are you interested in obtaining a USCG Captain's License? Do you want to learn the difference between an Operator Uninspected Passenger Vessel (OUPV) license and a Master 100GT license, and what experience the Coast Guard requires for each? These informational session will help answer these questions and others about the two licenses. Also discussed will be the different methods for completing the course requirements.
We plan to offer both courses in Maine during the Fall of 2024, representing the Captain School Key West / Miami. This information session is free, but please register in advance, so the instructor knows how many individuals will be attending and can send login instructions.

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant training prepares students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office. The program includes hands-on labs and a clinical externship opportunity at a local healthcare provider. Upon successful completion of this program, students are eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national examination. Prerequisites: CASAS math and reading assessment, immunizations, and background check. Class location and schedules vary. Introduction to Law Suite

Real Estate Law dives into the legal issues involved in real estate field, such as sales to title examinations. You will learn from real world examples to better understand how real estate law is used in day-to-day real estate practice and investing.
Employment Law Fundamentals explores the basics of employment law. You will gain an understanding of federal employment laws that dictate employee benefits, hiring practices, evaluation and termination procedures, conflict resolution, discrimination and union laws, and workplace safety rules.
Introduction to Criminal Law explores one of the most fascinating areas of legal practice. You will get a behind-the-scenes look at criminal law by examining the world of prosecutors, defense attorneys, and the paralegals who work closely with them.
