Community Gardening

Community Gardening is a place to bring together students, staff, and community members with the mission of growing empathy through gardening. Transforming an outdoor space for learning, hands-on exploration and all types of gardening activities that will attract interest from a beginner to the novice gardener.
Community Partners will support the outdoor educational componenets of Community Gardening. Come prepare to get your hands dirty and your knees wet at least for the first few weeks. We will be discussing companion gardening, learning about the importance of pollinators, and journaling about how our five senses.

Increase your skills in reading and vocabulary development. Lessons will meet students needs to read more difficult materials needed for workforce advancement, and the HiSET, ASVAB, and Acuplacer assessments.

StoryTime Adventures
with Kelli Gilzow Stowell, Augusta Adult and Community Education

The importance of reading to a child and spending the time together exploring the context of a book is endless. In these workshops, we have a read along and then a hands-on crafting adventure.
These Adventures are FREE to join! Parent/Guardian are encouraged to engage with the child(ren). We promote all hands on deck approach to learning!
It is REQUIRED that you register for these workshops so that we are able to accurately prepare books and materials for all participants.
StoryTime Adventures are held at Buker Community Center.

Open Water Angler Education
with Kelli Gilzow Stowell, Augusta Adult and Community Education

The Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs (HOFNOD) program is the flagship youth education program of the Foundation. The program, developed 20 years ago, has been recently updated. HOFNOD uses angling skill development as a gateway to teach youth about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and how to deal with the challenges facing them in their young lives.
AACE Outdoor Educator, Kelli M Gilzow Stowell with the help of Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, we will introduce open water angler skills. It is not required that you hold a Fishing license for this opportunity.
Ideal for children aged 6+, those under the age of 18 must accompanied by an adult.
Registration is REQUIRED, as only a limited number of registrants can join.
Lake Camping Experience
with Kelli Gilzow Stowell, Augusta Adult and Community Education

5 Complete Camping Sites outfitted by Gear Share, Brunswick for an overnight lake camping experience.
- 3 Sites are for Families ranging from 4-6 people
- 2 Sites are for Families ranging from 2-4 people
Meals: Dinner + Saturday breakfast are prepared as a group.
Entertainment and guided adventures are part of the experience!
INCLUDES: Open Water Angler Education, Water Vessel Exploration
