Certified Clinical Medical Assistant with CCMA Certification
with Academy of Medical Professions, Five Town CSD Adult & Community Education
Medical Assistants are responsible for a variety of medical office tasks from administrative to technical and scientific duties and must have quality human relations skills. Some of the job duties include cleaning and dressing wounds, taking blood samples, administering medications, taking vitals, preparing a patient for EKGs, obtaining a patient’s history, and assisting physicians during examinations. Our program provides virtual reality style classroom work as well as traditional style teaching for a blended learning experience. Practicals are performed during the program to ensure that the student has proper techniques and will be ready to pass the National Certification. Upon completion of the program, you will sit for your CCMA (Clinical Certified Medical Assistant) national certification exams through NHA. Tuition includes national certification, 6 practice exams, online study guide materials, books, resume assistance, and all other associated fees. Externships may be available in your area. Payment plans are available for all medical certificate programs.

Achieve Your Goals

This course explores how to effectively set personal and professional goals and how to create strategies to achieve those goals. We explore the difference between idea and execution and participants learn tools to stay on track through smart objectives and accountability.
CPR/AED/Standard First Aid
with Andrew Eckman, Five Town CSD Adult & Community Education
The Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches participants to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as cardiac and respiratory emergencies; head, neck, and back injuries; concussion; shock; choking; stroke; seizures; anaphylactic shock (including use of Epi-PenⒷ); burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, diabetic emergencies, and heat and cold emergencies. This program teaches participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed.
Maine Driving Dynamics
The Maine Driving Dynamics course is a driver improvement course that is aimed to improve a student's defensive driving awareness and abilities. This five-hour course includes discussion of collision avoidance techniques, safety issues, driver habits and attitudes, and the basic elements that constantly challenge drivers on Maine's highways. Our goal is to save lives, prevent injuries, and reduce vehicle-related crashes.
A student who completes the course will receive a three-point credit on their driving record. It may take up to 2 weeks for processing.

You will need to bring a DSLR with a flash (on camera is fine) to class for this exciting workshop in portraiture.
We will explore studio lighting, and the various methods of setting up lighting scenarios. There will be strobes and flash units available and the class will fully participate in making their own portraits. Enter the exciting world of portraiture and learn to take your own family portraits, senior pictures or even capture images of your beloved family pet.
Suicide Awareness and Prevention Workshop
with Walter Boomsma, MSAD 53 Adult and Community Education
This class is in conjunction with the Substitute Teaching class and is required for substiutes (recent law LD609), but open to anyone. You will receive basic suicide prevention education. It is designed to raise awareness about suicide risk factors and warning signs.

So many business people know insurance is important, but don’t know how to shop around. Learn about why it’s important to have insurance, no matter how small your business and how to compare different types of coverages, companies, options and explore Liability, versus Commercial Property and Automotive, Workers Comp and more. There will be some hands-on work comparing options, so you can learn how to read, interpret and choose just the right policies at the right price for your business.
We encourage you to take all the workshops in our Small Business Academy. Search for Small Business Academy and all nine courses will appear. If you sign up for all nine and come to 7 you will receive a refund of $200. The Small Business Academy is sponsored by Machias Savings Bank.
