Get your name on our interest list for the fall 2024 class!

Assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office. Instruction includes preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, technical aspects of phlebotomy and the cardiac life cycle. You’ll review important topics including phlebotomy, pharmacology, the proper use and administration of medications, taking and documenting vital signs, cardiology (including proper lead placements), professional workplace behavior, ethics and the legal aspects of healthcare.

This test prep program consists of 140 hours of classroom lecture and an optional clinical externship of 160 hours with a local healthcare provider. Once you successfully complete this test prep program, you will be eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national examination and the National Workforce Career Association (NWCA) Clinical Medical Assistant (CMAE) Exam. Classes will be held at the Learning Center @ Jack Memorial in Buxton.

*You must show proof of having a high school diploma or equivalency to get into this program. You will take a short reading test prior to the start date of the class.

This 2 year certification course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of medical settings. This audience includes nurses, physicians, EMS professionals, students in a healthcare program at a university/college, allied health professionals (physical therapists, occupational therapist, athletic trainers, etc.), and others who may need training in basic life support skills. Taught by American Heart Association Certified Instructor.

This is a five-week course that will provide participants, 16 years and older, with the tools and understanding needed to lead small groups of participants through a day of open-water fishing adventure. We will explore the principles of the Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs campaign and use our knowledge to offer a day of open-water fishing. This course is geared to pair mentors with youth to promote spring and summer, outdoor education and develop a love for life-long learning.

INFORMATIONAL DATE: April 4 from 1:00-3:00 pm.

4 weeks of class held Thursdays, from 6:30-8P 

April 25, May 2, May 9, NO May 16, May 23

Practical Assessment on Friday, May 24 from 1-430P at BiCentennial Nature Park, Rte 3, Augusta.

This course will be taught by Kelli M Gilzow Stowell, our certified Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs Instructor, Certified Educational Trip Leader for Augusta Adult and Community Education AACE Program Coordinator, Augusta Parks and Recreation Outdoor Educator, and Certified American Red Cross Instructor.
