EMERGENCY MEDICAL

The Emergency Medical Technician program provides students withnecessary skills to respond to emergencycalls, to provide efficient and immediatecare to critically injured persons, and to transport patients to a medical facility. Students receive instruction in anatomy and physiology and patient assessment.Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to take the National Registry Exam for Emergency Medical Technicians. The course includes a 12-hour clinical rotation in an emergency department and a 12-hour ride-along with an ambulance service.

Six levels of English classes are offered. Beginning levels focus on basic communication, life skills, and literacy. Intermediate levels continue to focus on reading, writing, and life skills. Advanced levels focus on reading, writing, and grammar in academic context to prepare students for continuing education. Students must take a placement test to ensure proper placement in the classes. Appointments are offered weekly during the school year. Call 874-8155 to make an intake appointment.
