Certified Medical Administrative Assistant/Medical Office Specialist

Certified Medical Assistant
In partnership with Franklin Memorial Hospital, AHEC, and the Academy of Medical Professions, Spruce Mountain Adult & Community Education is facilitating an all-inclusive sixteen-week certification course. This class will set you on the path for local employment and the beginning of a successful medical career.
Medical Assistants are responsible for a variety of medical office tasks from administrative, technical and scientific duties. Must have quality human relations skills, too. Some of the job duties include cleaning and dressing wounds, taking blood samples, administering medications, taking vitals, preparing a patient for EKGs, obtaining a patient's history, and assisting physicians during examinations.
Our program provides virtual reality style classroom work as well as traditional style teaching for a blended learning experience. Practicum will be performed during the program to ensure that the student has proper techniques and will be ready to pass the National Certification. Upon completion of the program, you will sit for your CCMA (Clinical Certified Medical Assistant) national certification exams through NHA.
$4,000 includes national certification, 6 practice exams, online study guide materials, books, resume assistance, and all other associated fees. Initial job shadow and externships available through Franklin Memorial Hospital.

Certified Medical Scribe
with Academy of Medical Professionals, Sanford Community Adult Education
A scribe is a physician collaborator who fulfills the primary clerical and non-medical functions of the busy physician or practitioner. The scribe focuses on data collection and its documentation to help establish a rapid and smooth workflow and ensure an accurate and completed medical record. This 8 week program provides 80 clock hours of instruction and is completely online. Cost is $1850. Year round online course, open enrollment.

Certified Nurses Assistant - CNA
If you are seeking a challenging and rewarding career in the medical field, this course will provide you with the skills and experiences to be Maine State Certified as a Nursing Assistant. This regional collaboration has allowed us to offer this course at a reduced cost! Skills will be taught in an interactive classroom setting, and a two-week clinical experience will follow. The course will focus on nursing theory and application, including basic anatomy, physiology, and clinical performance. The course will also introduce you to several employers within our region.
Prerequisites: students must successfully pass the CASAS testing and interview screening in order to be admitted to the program. Applicants are encouraged to job shadow a CNA before interviewing. Documentation of a recent medical physical, conducted and signed by a physician, is required before clinical. Students must produce evidence of the following vaccinations: Hep B1, MMR, Tetanus, Chicken Pox, TB and flu shot. Fee for background check is non-refundable.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

CLC Adult Education and LincolnHealth co-sponsor a FREE 180-hour minimum Certified Nursing Assistant training course. This CNA program is open to all adults by application only. Successful graduates are eligible to work in many areas of the health care field. The January class is closed but a new class will be starting April, 2020. The course is open to all adults by application and interview process. Applications will be available in February. “Earn while you Learn”
LincolnHealth/CLC Adult Education and Midcoast School of Technology are offering an “Earn while you Learn” opportunity. Through a paid apprentice program, you can earn money for your CNA training with an expected commitment to work in a Long Term Care setting for 18 months.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Spring 2020

CNAs are caregivers who provide patients assistance with activities of daily living and basic needs. They also help patients feel safe and comfortable throughout their hospital stay. These direct caregivers spend most of their time assisting patients and listening to their concerns. The State of Maine approved CNA course includes classroom work, skills labs, and clinical experience. Candidates must present either a high school diploma, or HiSET/GED. Enrollment is limited to 10. The admission process includes enrollment into our Career Readiness Program, a criminal background check, placement testing, and a series of meetings with PVAEC staff. A non-refundable application fee of $50 is required. The cost of the class is $1,150, which includes tuition, textbook, background check, and state exam. Start Date TBD (once minimum enrollment is met). Payment plans and financial assistance may be available to those who qualify.
