The United Technologies Center Adult Education CCMA course prepares students to become competent entry-level Medical Assistants. 

Subjects covered are medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, cardiac monitoring & procedures, phlebotomy, medical law & ethics, and medical office administration & procedures. The course is designed to develop the critical skills needed to perform clinical, laboratory and administrative duties in physician's offices, hospitals, urgent care facilities and other healthcare agencies.

The UTC Adult Education CCMA course meets in-person twice weekly 5:30pm-8:00pm. 

Successful students will participate in a clinical externship in addition to attending class. Students will be scheduled for two 8-hour daytime shifts each week during their externship.   

Applicants must be 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Basic computer skills and internet access at home required for the online educational resources of the CCMA course. 

Prior healthcare experience is preferred, but not mandatory. However, applicants should note that the CCMA course is fast-paced and additional self-study is strongly encouraged.
