Learn about the ancient Indonesian art form of batik, a process using wax resist to create designs on fabric! We will use a traditional tjanting tool to make repetitive patterns in wax, focusing heavily on the art making process as a form of meditation. Students will be provided at least two cloth pieces for their pieces. Feel free to bring additional fabric of your own, but make sure it is 100% cotton. Please arrive in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty/stained! All skill levels welcome. Materials fee of $18 payable to instructor at beginning of class.

Come and learn a variety of new art-making techniques!  Including, but not limited to: drawing from a still-life, creating functional ceramic tableware, or trying a printmaking process! We will also experiment with mixed-media collage and abstract acrylic painting.  All materials included in course fee; however, for certain projects students may bring items from home to personalize.  Open to kids ages 8-13.

Let's make some minis! Do you like legos, Instagram videos of tiny food, hamsters and all things small? Then this is the right class for you! Students can make whatever they like, as long as it's a miniature version. Instructor will demonstrate miniature making techniques and tool applications while assisting students in creating their tiny works of art. Feel free to bring reference materials or objects to replicate in miniature. Materials fee of $12 payable to instructor at class.

Kids: Cool Coil Pots

Build a beautiful coil pot just like the Ancient Greeks did! Learn how to roll a coil by hand; adding one coil section at a time to create your masterpiece! After preliminary demos, students will build during the first two classes.  They will add handles and other ornate elements, decorate and glaze their pots during the final class.  We encourage you to bring some reference photos or inspirational materials.  Materials fee of $16 payable to instructor at class.

Reduce, reuse, recycle! Come make your own one-of-a-kind mosaic treasure from up-cycled ceramic wares. We'll be creatively arranging ceramic tiles and adhering them into place; then adding grout.  These colorful mosaics make a lovely addition to any garden, home or fairy house!  Materials included in cost of class.

Knitting Basics 3/4

Ideal for beginning knitters or those who'd like to refresh their skills after a long absence. Casting on, ending a project and learning how to repair mistakes will be covered, as well as mastery of the basic knit and purl stitches, which are the foundation of all knitting. All levels of ability are welcome! Bring size 7 knitting needles, 1 Supersaver Red heart yarn (7 ounces) -a light color, 1 small pair of scissors and a tape measure. First session would be slippers or mittens.
