Women's Writing Circle
with Stephanie Frykholm, MSAD#44 Adult & Continuing Education
Women's Writing Circle; nourish your inner being & replenish your artistic well.
If you want to...get yourself writing on a regular basis
...strengthen your connetion to your creative Source
...connect with other women who write
...then please join us for a writing experience designed to help you overcome resistance, sidestep your inner critic, bring forth your voice, and write! Together we will explore such concepts as priming the creative well, curiosity and the creative flow, writing practice, bearing witness, and mindful/embodied writing.
We will use prompts and write in a stream of consciousness way that helps break through writer's block and loosen the shackles of perfectionism. Our write-read-reflect format is deisgned to develp our ear for language. It also honors the creative cycle by inviting a writer to read her words aloud, to have her words witnessed by others, and to have the value of her writing reflected back to her in an honoring way that is free from judgments of "good" and "bad". The disciplines of mind we develop translate into other arenas of life; as we find our voice through writing, we become more deeply rooted and better able to speak our truth in our relationships.
This is NOT a writing critique group. Rather, our focus will be on the immediacy of the writing experience and the discoveries we make about language, writing, and our own creative process as we dance with paper and pen at the very cusp of creation.
This will be a safe and welcoming space for beginning and seasoned writers alike. Bring a fast writing pen and a notebook/journal. Laptops are acceptable. This 8-week course is limited to 12 participants.
Facilitator Stephanie Frykholm is a writer/storyteller who has written with women's circles for over 30 years.
What would happen if one woman told the truth about her life? The world would split open. -Muriel Rukeyser
