Whether preparing for the HiSET exam, working on skills for career advancement, or earning credits toward an adult education diploma, students will work within an individualized program to improve their knowledge of English topics, ranging from crafting essays to exploring poetry.
English Focus

Whether preparing for the HiSET exam, earning credits toward an adult education diploma, or preparing for college and a career, students will learn the fundamentals of writing, reading, and mechanics. Classes are done at the student's pace, with targeted instruction. Multiple texts will be used, with a variety of reading selections. Students work in a "lab" like setting, focusing on individual work with help from the instructor. This is intended for all levels of learners.
HiSET (High School Equivalency Test)

The HiSET is a series of five tests: reading, writing, math, science and social studies. Passing all five tests shows that you have the skills and knowledge expected of high school graduates. Your HiSET degree will open doors for work and college.
Meet with a student adviser and plan for classes or tutoring to prepare for the tests. HiSET is a self-paced option to earning your high school credential.
HiSET classes are small group or 1:1 tutoring to help you prepare for the test success. Build essential academic skills while learning invaluable test taking tips.
Math

Whether preparing for the HiSET exam, earning credits towards an adult education diploma, or working on math skills for career advancement, students will work within an individualized program to improve knowledge of mathematical topics, ranging from basic mathematical literacy to algebra and geometry concepts.
Materials and pace will vary, depending on student needs.

Students will work with a variety of materials to understand a range of mathematical topics.
Students will receive targeted instruction and may work independently or with other students to complete assigned tasks and improve skills.

Math and reading assessments are done to meet the student at their level of learning. Students get to know the instructors and formulate a schedule that works best for them.

Science

Students will prepare for the HiSET® Science exam through practice with reading passages, and using charts, diagrams, and graphs to answer questions.
Classes focus on weekly topics in the areas of life science, earth science, and physical science, with plenty of group discussion and problem-solving.
Social Studies
with Michelle Guillaume, Spruce Mountain Adult Education
Students will prepare for the HiSET Social Studies exam by reading complex texts on US History, world history, geography, or economics. Classes include class discussion about these topics and practice answering selected test questions.
Students will use a HiSET specific text, learn to read the material critically and extract the information needed to answer the questions. Come and learn about world events, have group discussions, and prepare for the test.
