Geometry Through Art
with To Be Announced, RSU 24 Adult Education
Right brain meets left brain. Students will use their interest and/or talent of art while learning key concepts of shapes, angles, similarity and congruence in Geometry. Art provides a different approach for learning math.
Demonstrate your understanding of math skills through a variety of art projects. Class will be a combination of instruction, group, and individual work. At the end of the course, students will have a project presentation of displaying all of their artwork. Diploma students can earn one credit in either math or art.
Styles of Literature

Whether you love to read or don't read very often, you'll find a style of writing that catches your attention.
Read a collection of high-interest texts to discover how writers carefully craft their works in compelling and dramatic ways.In addition to reading a vaiery of styles, you will write a number of short papers to develop your own style of writing fiction and non-fiction.
What's your favorite reading? In class, you'll explore a verity of genres (styles): Action and adventure, allegory, articles, autobiography, biography, drama, diary/memoir, fiction, horror, letters, non-fiction, poetry, satire, science-fiction, speeches...
When completing this course, participants can earn one high school level English credit.

Phenomena: Intriguing True Stories

Sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction! Read about some unexplained, natural occurances in the world.
Spark your curiosity by reading a series of high-interest, nonfiction stories and articles designed to enlighten and entertain while increasing your reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. These stories have often been called "unbelievable" until you learn the details.
Earn diploma credits or prepare for the HiSET with this reading- and writing-intensive course.

Civics / US Gov

What is the American Dream? Explore a series of real-life, U.S. historical case studies that chronicle a variety of groups and individuals in their quest to achieve social justice and equal treatment under the law. Learn about how the US government works to create laws and how your voice matters when we can participate in our governing system. Discuss, research, and write about the roots of US social history and government.
Students earn a high school credit in Civics / US Government for completion of this course.

Get Ready for College Statistics - Online

Prepare for college statistics with our unique online course! Get a head start on learning the terms, symbols, and graphing calculator. This online course is for students who have placed into college statistics or those who are retaking the class.
Class will meet weekly on Zoom. Delayed viewing is available on an individual basis. Students will need a laptop, tablet or desktop (not a phone) with a camera and microphone, as well as high speed internet. Ideally, students will either have a TI-83 or 84 calculator to use or online statistical software. Outside homework will be given: expect 2-3 hours of homework a week outside of class. Students need recent assessment scores, which can be taken with us. No class April 16, 2024.
