Farm stands, farmers’ markets and other direct to customer marketing methods have always relied on “Word of Mouth” marketing to get most of their customers. Now customers are communicating in a variety of ways including digitally and farmers need to be sure their customers can find them easily in the digital universe. 90% of Americans have cell phones and 60% have smartphones. 70% of people use their smartphone as a store locator. Can they find your farm or farmers’ market? What are customers posting about their farm experience at your farm or farmers’ market? Come and find out how you can make your farm stand, farmers’ market or other direct to customer market site more visible to the digital technology. Bring your mobile device if you have one. Donna Coffin is a University of Maine Extension Professor in Piscataquis and Penobscot Counties and has been assisting farmers and gardeners since 1980. She utilizes new media in communications with clients and assists farmers in marketing.

Partners for Peace Volunteer Hotline Training

This 44 hour training will provide you with all of the skills and information necessary to volunteer, or become an intern, for Partners for Peace, the local Domestic Violence Resource Center.  Partners for Peace provides support services to anyone affected by domestic abuse and violence in the Penobscot and Piscataquis County region, including a free and confidential 24-hour hotline. All supplies will be provided for the training.

"We rely on our dedicated volunteers to help with our helpline, support groups, children's groups, committee work, court accompaniment and everything in between," said Casey Faulkingham, the Community Response Team Leader.  "Our community members and volunteers are some of our most important resources. We simply could not do this work without them."

Start date is tentatively set for October 14 and TBD based on participant availability.
