Preserving the Harvest: Salsa*

with Deborah Barnett, UMaine Cooperative Extension's Expanded Food & Nutrition Community Education Program, Mid-Maine Regional Adult Community Education

$7

Would you like to enjoy the fresh taste of homemade tomato salsa all year long?

This hands-on food preservation workshop will teach you the basic steps for hot water bath canning and freezing. Participants will learn recommended methods for preserving foods, the latest and safest recipes, about equipment to insure safety, and how to check for properly sealed jars. Participants will also receive a “Preserving the Harvest” food preservation information packet. There is a $20 Materials fee per person, separate from the registration fee, due directly to the instructor at the start of class.

Please bring a potholder with you to the workshop. You will be able to take home a jar of what we prepare that evening!

Please mark your calendar for Sept 30 in case a storm makeup is needed. Limit 10 students.
