<p>The course will emphasize the basics of American Sign Language (ASL) and is appropriate for students who have little or no previous knowledge of ASL. A study of the Deaf Community and Deaf Culture will also be emphasized, through the study of culturally appropriate behaviors and the historical aspects of the development and acceptance of ASL as a recognized language. The use of ASL in the classroom will be practiced by students and demonstrated by the instructor throughout the semester.&nbsp; In this way, students will develop beginning conversational skills.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Criteria

<p>Student has completed a 45 hour course in&nbsp;American Sign Language</p>
