CNAs are caregivers who provide patients assistance with activities of daily living and basic needs. They also help patients feel safe and comfortable throughout their hospital stay. These direct caregivers spend most of their time assisting patients and listening to their concerns.

The State of Maine approved CNA course includes classroom work, skills labs, and clinical experience. The course is a 15- week course of 190 hours. This course will prepare you not only to become a CNA, but will also help with your reading, study, and math skills. We will give you the advantage of work readiness training to help build your resume and prepare for employment in the medical field. Our course includes additional academic support for those who need or want it.

At the successful completion of the course, students take the State Certification Examination. Course cost includes the State Certification Examination.

Admission process includes the completion of an application packet, a score of 240 on the CASAS test (a reading assessment) and an interview with the instructor. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalency, or be working towards their diploma.

This course follows the CRMA standardized design as provided by the State of Maine, Division of Licensing & Regulatory Services, and Community Service Programs. The curriculum requires 35 - 40 hours of classroom time as well as a clinical component under the supervision of an R.N. instructor. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will obtain a certificate from the State of Maine and be certified to provide medication administration in the residential setting. Re-certification is required every 2 years. The registration fee includes all training materials. Class size is limited.

The 50-hour Ophthalmic Assistant Program prepares students for entry level positions in Ophthalmology, one of the fastest growing healthcare segments.  Through classroom lecture and labs, this program includes: anatomy and physiology of the eye; general principles of pharmacology; prescriptions written for the eye; visual acuity; and tonometry (basic) and glaucoma.  Also includes a review of ocular dressing procedures; maintenance of equipment and instruments and other areas. Note: Although this program does not include a clinical rotation or national or state certification as part of its overall objectives, this program meets the requirements of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), and the AAO’s Ophthalmic Medical Assisting Exam - which students may take after meeting certain work experience requirements.

All Inclusive 14 week program. 

Work One-On-One with a Pharmacy Technician Trainer and entirely online with support from a Pharmacy Technician and Trainer.  The Pharmacy Technician is one of the fastest growing jobs in health care today.  In this course, you will learn everything from the role of the technician in the pharmacy setting, to the basic sciences at the core of pharmacy practice, to preparing for the PTCB exam.  You will learn complete drug information that includes proper name, spelling and pronunciation, drug class, generic and trade name, route of administration, dosage and more of hundreds of drugs.  You will be able to identify pills on sight with pill photos, gain a better understanding of how certain drugs work within the body with a concise review of relevant anatomy and physiology, and stay up to date with cutting-edge pharmacy practice with the latest information on new drugs, regulations, HIPAA guidelines and safety procedures.  You will be ready to pass your PTCB national certification included in cost. $1,850.00.

The phlebotomist is a vital member of the clinical laboratory team who obtains a patient’s blood specimens by venipuncture and micro collection for testing purposes. Phlebotomists are employed across the healthcare system. Classroom and lab work includes medical terminology, blood collection, procedures, specimen hands-on practice, and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods. Learners must produce documentation of a recent medical physical examination conducted and signed by a physician, and the following vaccinations: Hepatitis B, MMR, Tetanus, Varicella, and TB. Class size is limited. 

Students are responsible for purchasing book for class- "Phlebotomy Essentials 6th Editiion" by Ruth McCall and Cathee Tankersley.
