Maine Adult Education

This class presents a tour through space comprising the immediate neighborhood of our star, the Sun. A close examination of “all” star systems within 10 light years of our Sun is discussed. Subsequently, the discussion extends to 15 light years from the Sun, limited only to stars visible to the naked eye. The purpose of this talk is to satisfy people’s curiosity about what relatively close stars might be like. We often hear about the closest star system but seldom do we hear about anything beyond that. How many are there? What size are they? Which ones can we see with our naked eyes? Where in the sky are they located? Which ones have planets? Ample time is provided for questions.
