This interactive class can help you gain the skills and confidence you need to stretch your money, pay your bills, reduce debt, find money for savings, plan for retirement, and set personal financial goals.  At the end of the class you will have a plan to achieve greater financial stability.  Successful completion of this class meets one of the requirements for the Family Development Account (FDA) and Rainy Day Saving  (RDS) matched saving programs.  Graduates of My Money Works are eligible to apply for the GEN Scholarship to be used at any of the University of Maine System campuses, Maine Community Colleges, or the University of New England.  Completion of this class meets the financial Literacy requirement for the First Generation Program of Maine Housing.

Needle Turned Appliqué

Learn how to appliqué using the needle turn technique – a technique in which you cut a piece of fabric and sew it to a background fabric. You then hand stitch the design by using your needle to turn a small seam allowance under the fabric.

Reiki balances and energizes all systems of the body and facilitatesthe relief of physical, mental, and emotional symptoms. It heals from the root cause and is compatible with all healing methods.This class will include what Reiki is, the history, and how it works.There will be ample time for hands-on practice. Students must attend all four sessions in order to receive full Reiki I certification. Limit 8 students.

We’ll go over business planning, market research, and what it takes to get started, including licensing, operational, and legal considerations. We do this in a WHAT NOT TO DO format that highlights some of the common mistakes new business owners make.

Peter Harriman has been working for nearly 8 years with the Maine Small Business Development Center. The Small Business Development Center is a free, confidential business advising service found in every state. These services are for new and existing businesses alike and can range from business planning, financial projections, human resources, tax strategies and more. In his 8 years, Peter Harriman has helped over 1,300 clients access over $14 Million in funding to help start over 98 businesses in Maine. The course, Starting a Business, will go through the fundamental questions and motivations Peter has learned over the years that help business owners understand how, when and why to start a new business.
